The Saimaa ringed seal is highly #endangered . Facing an uncertain future due to threats like #climatechange and net fishing, they will disappear from this earth if we dont take action to help save them.😔 If we don't tackle this problem now, the seal, along with many other magnificent #wildlife will no longer have a suitable living environment. Time to treat our 🌎 better.

“It all starts with the seedlings.” 🌱 In the foothills of the Annamite mountains in Central Vietnam, hundreds of small land owners are joining forces to produce #sustainable acacia used in outdoor furniture around the world. With most of the country’s 2.7 million hectares of plantation #forest owned by individual households, making the business case for #sustainability may be the best chance for saving forests in the Greater Mekong. #FSCGA2017 Get inspired by what is done in Laos - link in bio
“Without the #forest , it’s hard for me to live.” Khensy Milatid used to see rattan as just a plant. “We didn’t see much value in it; we would chop it down and collect stumps for food.” But Milatid’s view of forests in Laos changed when he was introduced to Forest Stewardship Council (#FSC ) certification. He realized he could make a good livelihood from the forest – harvesting and weaving rattan for export to markets that want products from well-managed forests – while also conserving it for his future generations. #FSCGA2017 Read more about his story - link in bio
#DYK between 1990 and 2015 alone, the world lost a forested area the size of South Africa. If recent #deforestation trends continue, more than a quarter of the #Amazon will be treeless by 2030. Sustainable forest management is key to ensuring that our precious #forests are safeguarded for the future. Do your part in protecting forests by looking for the Forest Stewardship Council (#FSC ) label, which ensures that the product you’re buying comes from a well-managed forest. #FSCGA2017

#DYK temperature is a key factor in determining the number of male and female offspring for marine turtles? Human-induced #climatechange has resulted in higher ocean temperatures and this is just one of the plethora of impacts devastating marine life😟
#WorldAnimalDay While we celebrate the existence of these beautiful creatures we share our home with, it’s also a day to remind us to be the voice for those that don’t have one. Giant pandas, tigers, apes, leopards – what do they all have in common? They live in #forests all over the world, many of which are being destroyed by human activities. Deforestation and degradation are threatening the survival of these endangered species😟 To protect our amazing wildlife and local communities, we have to continuously safeguard our forests, oceans, climate and more.
