Thanks to @KellySlater
for bringing this to our attention and calling out this great piece of wisdom from previous guest @kimi_swimmy
which was featured on a movie with @Olukai
about her thoughts on sustainability. “We got sold on this whole throwaway society, this whole throwaway idea that the more civilized you are, the more convenient everything should be. You shouldn’t have to do dishes if you can throw them away, ya know? You shouldn’t have to take care of something if you can throw it away. And we’ll make it cheap enough where you can buy another but there is no ‘away’. THERE’S NO SUCH PLACE AS AWAY.” I agree that single use plastic is terrible, but that's only one place to start. It's how we order packages, the cars we drive, the clothes we buy, the houses we choose to live in, the land we use. Lately the best solution I've found is to just use less. Consume less. Buy less. Eat less. Have more JOMO (the Joy of missing out) instead of FOMO. I am welcome to more ideas.
You’ve been asking us to roll up our sleeves and get more involved in elections. Well, we heard you loud and clear. .
Welcome to the POW Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit. Without the limits of a traditional 501(c)(3), we’ll be talking all things election and helping to provide you with the tools you need to show up at the midterms this November. Together, we’ll show the climate deniers in office the door. Check out the link in our bio for more info.
I keep seeing butterflies over the last week or two & they've been fluttering and flying around me a lot more than I remember ever happening before. I pretty clearly see a butterfly in the clouds of this photo.
I went looking for spiritual answers for why this might be & found this. "Metamorphosis
Butterfly heralds a time of great transformation. Associated with the air, Butterfly is about mental and intellectual change. If Butterfly has entered your awareness, this is a time to change your thoughts in order to blossom into higher levels of consciousness. The process of metamorphosis can teach you about the stages of spiritual growth." I've been going through some mental changes as I approach 40 this summer. Things like mortality & making the most of the time we have left have crept to the front of mind along with making sure I stand up for the things I believe. There's also been a new understanding of things that I had different understangs of before. Change is happening... or maybe it's a midlife crisis.
I haven’t listened to this album in forever & damn it still sounds as brilliant as the first time I heard it.
It was worth being attacked my mosquitos for this sunrise
Sunset was a bit of a dud & there aren’t a ton of spots to set up along shore but I think I made a few decent photos.
I'm not much of a flower person, but...
BREAKING: Congressmen Tom Emmer and Rick Nolan just introduced another anti-Boundary Waters, anti-public land amendment in the U.S. house.
Take Action at the link in our bio.
This amendment requires that the Department of Interior ignore science and specific provisions in place and protect fish, wildlife and public land. Don't let Congressman Emmer and Nolan tie the agency's hands. #publiclandowner #keeppubliclandsinpublichands
