It should come as no surprise that Christopher Bailey’s final collection for @burberry was the true highlight of #LFW . That Bailey paid tribute to LGBTQ+ youth is even more momentous considering the statement it makes about bringing the 162-year-old British house into 2018. By adding the rainbow flag to the brand’s signature check pattern (image 2), the designer literally threads diversity into the fabric of iconography. "I started making that body of work as Trump was running for office...I was concerned about police brutality. My son was kind of getting a little bit older. I started getting scared that I was going to have to explain it to him. I mean, I know the rules, right? I know how to deal with police, I know how to deal with bigotry—I know all of the shit. In the new issue of L’Officiel Hommes USA, the multimedia artist talks about his works with black soap (second image), how art is about problem solving, and why he isn’t offended by being called a Black artist. "The fascinating thing about race is the fact that we know it does affect you, but one of the things that's most difficult to explain sometimes is how...” Read the full story on lofficielusa.com Photography @matinzad
