💪 TRY THESE 💪 Some back/pull day moves I've been hitting out nowadays: . 1. Rack Chins: a nice variation of pull-ups. You've got more balance and your centre of gravity is sunk. In turn, you can focus on the contraction a bit more. Makes for unreal pumps! Especially good on the biceps when your grip is supinated (facing you). . 2. Rope Hammer Curls: I like to load this up with heavy weight and keep flogging the reps till I'm down to partials. Jelly arms after 🙋‍♂️ . 3. Front levers: although I can't hold my levers (yet 😈), this move has your lats & and core feeling finished after some sets. ♂️ SOY & MEN - does it fuck with testosterone or not? 🤔 2 min read and the case closed. . (Throwing it back to my study days 😂) A meta-analysis of over 30 reports by Hamilton-Reeves et al (2010) found that 'no significant effects of soy protein or isoflavone intake on Testosterone, Free Test, SHBG or FAI were detected'. . Then again, a study by Dillingham et al (2005) along with many other smaller clinical studies found that Soy Protein decreased (in particular) DHT/DHT testosterone with minor effects on other hormones. DHT is the hormone responsible for prostate enlargement, body hair growth and potentially hair loss.. so hey, it ain't so much a bad thing that this drops from time to time, but a balance is advised. . Case in point, there's so much conflicting data out there and everyone has an opinion about this. Do a google search and you'll see conflicting articles. It's not a concrete good/bad matter. . So, the answer is moderation - a good balance of plant/animal protein never hurt nobody. If you're a vegan by choice, diff story --> this post is intended for the omnivores among us with options. . Dudes, eat both and don't avoid Soy/plant protein like the plague. Tastes exactly like a Snickers bar 🤤 definitely a softer texture than its predecessors too. My favourite of all the AU flavours no ifs or buts. • Cookie dough is a monster of its own. Subway cookie-style chewy bites and a smooth buttery texture. • Caramel Macchiato surprised me despite not being a coconut milk ice cream fan. Flavour spoke volumes 💥 mostly sweet caramel with a sensible coffee aftertaste. Creamier than the regular Halo Tops. • Chocolate, oldie but a goldie. Exceptional with that coconut milk aftertaste. 🍔💥🍔💥🍔 When in the USA, you go to In N Out. So, what's the verdict? . 🍔 In N Out •Burger: 8/10, a little dry, good amount of cheese and rich flavours. •Fries: 5/10, yes serious. Even though I ordered animal fries off the secret menu (see right), they were dry as hell and quickly turned to cardboard tasting once they weren't <10 mins fresh. . 🍔 Shake Shack (couldn't get a good pic 😂) •Burger: 7/10, flavours aren't all there, a lil juicier and cleaner though. •Fries: 8/10 definitely moister, and a dream with cheese sauce. . No clear winner to me, both are good for separate things but equally better than McDonalds. 💥 SHOULDER FINISHERS FOR WIDTH 💥 . Give these movements a try after your next shoulder day! . 💪 Exercise 1: Partnered Bodyweight Lateral Raises. Have a partner depress your arms inwards as you push outwards. Don't stop pushing, and have them let go at a random af time to suprise you all the more. Once you've let go, your shoulders will have a crazy amount of burn all at once. Scary but good pain. Thanks @crunch_personal_trainer_ for the help. . 💪 Exercise 2: Dumbbell Around The World's. Works the entirety of the shoulders pretty damn hard except for the rear delt. Use a lighter weight and keep form strict. Watch how my palms face. 💥🍴 LEAN MEATS - Which for me? 🍴💥 . ⚖️ Having weighed and counted my calories these past few months, I can tell you one thing. Compared to chicken breast and lean fish, red meats and salmon were always higher calorie when it came to protein sources. Is that necessarily bad, though? . 🍴 The Big 4 broken down; 100g Lean Steak: 170 cal, 8g fat, 24g pro. 100g Chicken Breast: 111 cal, 2g fat, 23g pro. 100g Salmon: 206 cal, 16g fat, 26g pro. 100g Barramundi: 98 cal, 3g fat, 17g pro. (With Barramundi representing white fish) . 🐟 It's worth noting that Salmon is much more (macro)nutrient dense for the 100g your having, with more protein than the competition and similarly, more GOOD Omega 3 & 9 fats (85%), albeit the higher calorie count accompanying it. . 🔪 The fats which bring up the calorie count in Steak, however, are usually a mix of monounsaturated fats (55%) and saturated (40%). Mono Omega 9s play a similar role to Omega 3s in being heart and cell protective, among other benefits. Quality fats with a mix of not so quality in the form of saturated. A balance. . 🤔 Simply put, the extra calories are down to your macronutrient goals. Word to those looking to make a change in 2018; ⚠️ Decide your going to do it and realise this - you invest hours a day into your job, how could it be so hard to put some time into something as sacred as yourself? ⚠️ The whole process can be simplified to small, individual actions that will accumulate to something bigger before you even know it - think bricklaying. ⚠️ Don't try to do too much too soon, fuck that. Turn it into a weeks or months game. ⚠️ Set alarms, stick notes, change phone wallpapers - give yourself a fighting chance to be constantly mindful about what you're after, especially if it's a behaviour. ⚠️ Find a way to have fun doing it and you've removed all resistance (fun being however you define it).
