Today’s #wonderwomanwednesday is 20 year old Yusra Mardini from Berlin, Germany. Born in Damascus, Syria, Mardini trained as a competitive swimmer for many years before her house was destroyed in the Syrian Civil War. She and her sister fled Syria, but the motor in their boat to Greece broke, so they had to jump into the water and swim while pushing the boat for three hours. Following this amazing feat, Mardini participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio as part of the Refugee Olympic Team. Yusra, you are a true #wonderwoman and an inspiring voice for the quiet struggle millions of refugees go through.
At the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway show at PARAISO in Miami, model Mara Martin strutted down the runway in a one-shouldered metallic gold bikini with her 5-month-old daughter Aria, who was breastfeeding. She is our #WonderWomanWednesday this week.
