What’s one insecurity you have? 🤭
For me, it was that I got fitness industry “fat”. Before you go thinking - “but you’ve never been fat”, “but you’re still fat” (😂), or some variation of “my body is different from yours and I’m triggered AF omg omg omg” - here’s the deal: For the first 3, 4ish years of my weightlifting journey I rode every trend train out there. I started weightlifting, jumped into bikini bodybuilding, started IIFYM, tried “intuitive eating”, then *surprise surprise* gained 40 lbs from my show day weight. At the time - I blamed this on EVERYTHING except myself.
I know this might seem like a Negative Nancy post, but I promise it isn’t so bare with me. When I started weightlifting, I felt pressured to compete in bodybuilding. When I competed in bodybuilding, I felt pressured to bulk and cut. When I started IIFYM, I felt pressured to eat shit that honestly didn’t make me feel good. When I intuitively ate, I felt pressured to give into every impulse, whim, or desire I had with no consideration for how it would make me feel after the fact.
In reality, I wasn’t doing it for me. I was doing it to please whatever the latest “trend” or popular opinion was. I gave into the pressure because I didn’t understand the difference between inspiration and imitation.
Now I lift weights because I like feeling my muscles at work. I do cardio because I love the pain but also the pride I get from making it through. I don’t eat like shit because I don’t want to feel like shit. I am working to lose body fat because I prefer the way I look and feel when I’m leaner.
The way I look may or may not conform to your fitness and beauty ideals. Either way - I’m not here to be your . I’m here to care for myself and hopefully inspire you to do the same ... whatever that may look like 💕👊
