“Animation is a chorus of drawings working in tandem, each contributing a part to the whole of a time/space idea. If a single drawing, as a drawing, dominates the action, it is probably bad animation, even though it may be good drawing” - Chuck Jones, from Animation is a Gift Word

from One Froggy Evening | Chuck Jones | Hand-Painted LE Cel “I felt I had to make the frog believable in a very short time, so when he pulls himself out of the tin he slips a little bit, and when he blinks he blinks upward. That may sound ridiculous—who knows that is the way amphibians blink? I know it, so I have to put it in, and you’d better be impressed!” - Chuck Jones, Chuck Reducks
Inducted into the National Film Archives of the Smithsonian Institution in 2003, One Froggy Evening joins two other Jones masterpieces there, “What’s Opera, Doc?” and “Duck Amuck.”
One of the most influential women's clubs of the 19th century was the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. In an attempt to keep promoting the issues that the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union was concerned about, the WCTU was one of the first organizations to keep a professional lobbyist in Washington D.C. After much lobbying by the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, in 1901 every state in the nation had some kind of program that taught children in public schools about the dangers of alcohol. While this was a promising accomplishment for the movement, the WCTU lost their momentum after the death of Frances Willard in 1898. Soon the prohibition movement was taken over by the male led anti-saloon league which garnered enough support for the passage of the 18th amendment. Although the passage of the 18th Amendment, which prohibited alcohol, led to organized crime, corruption of justice, and excessive consumption of alcohol, prohibition should also be remembered as one of the first times that women joined forces to make the legal change in the United States.
