to literally the first @KrankBrooklyn
About a year ago shosh was diagnosed with #breastcancer
. She let me know she was going to undergo chemo, but she didn’t want to stop #training
. I was fu*king blown away. In this industry I’m used to hear clients come up with tons of excuses as to why they can’t train or shouldn’t train. From paper cuts to a hurt knee, no bullshit, I’ve heard it all.
Long story short she had signed up for a #powerlifting
meet (competition), yes, that’s fu*king bad ass.
We altered her training volume, she made a couple of dietary adjustments and during her bi weekly treatments we dropped her training intensity a bit. This went on for about 8 months.
Then boom, she needed #surgery
to remove lumps from both breast. So benching was out the window, for awhile. But never the less, she still trained. BTW she is an #paramedic
that works 12 hour shifts and traveled to Brooklyn from the Bronx to train at Krank.
With tons of training modifications, #chemo
, surgery long days at work, a million hospital visits, here comes the day of her powerlifting meet.
Here’s what happened:
1: she actually #gained
weight during all this, she came in 6lbs heavier then her previous meet #weight
2: she hit a #squat
and total personal best.
3: she #persevered
through a situation that every single one of us probably would have folded.
You are a fuc*king #champ
and a true #inspiration
to anyone facing #adversity
Everyone out there, if you’re feeling #lazy
or just don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel, read this post and step you fu*king game up. It’s not over, you owe it to yourself.
