Long post alert!!! This weekend has been amazing and an education.
My friends came over to visit me from York on Saturday which was lovely! We went out for lunch and we had amazing ice creams by the canal... Then... We got drunk 🙈🥂🥂🥂 now I have been doing really well with cutting down my alcohol but this weekend was a real eye opener.
I come from a family where drinking is a normal social activity. We meet in the pub. It's what we do. I've always grown up thinking that was the norm and so my habits turned into that too. Now I have no problem with anyone drinking... It's one of my favourite activities but this weekend was the first time I've drunk and had my heart rate monitored. My heart rate has pretty much consistently been above 100. My usual resting HR is 70ish.
So as much as I enjoy being sociable and drinking im making my body work so much harder to function. Why am I doing that? Because my mind tells me that drinking is what we do. I'll be honest and admit that I don't think I can go completely tee total however I really want to reduce it and focus on other sociable things I can do. I also hope that by cutting alcohol out I can help get my skin better. For those who saw my story the other day my skin is awful and I'm hoping by detoxing from alcohol it will help reduce all these spots!
I don't see that as a down point of my weekend but merely a learning curve. My weekend was fab. My friends are amazing and we had such a great catch up. Today I went out with another friend we went to a gorgeous park for a walk. I got to paddle in the river and this weekend my heart was well and truly happy 💕
I'm absolutely shattered now. But I'm rehydrating, I'm resting and hopefully a good night's sleep ahead of me. I really hope you all had a weekend as happy as mine

Yoga time this morning. I was making yoga a pretty regular part of my routine, but over the past 2 months I got out of that routine. Wow can I feel I’ve lost some balance and flexibility. I’ve NEVER been FLEXIBLE. And I’ve NEVER looked very GRACEFUL doing the downward dog. I remember trying to do yoga with some friends in high school and laughing brought the whole thing because I was so terrible at it. Being “terrible” at it is not holding me back any longer. I’ve realized how good it is for me to take the the time to stretch out and lengthen my body. It works hard for me the rest of the week. I need to take at least one day to do yoga a week and I’m going to make that my new goal. Sundays are for rest. That means family, God, and yoga. Besides, pants like these were invented because of yoga, right?! Since hittting my 40's, my sleep patterns have changed quite a bit, and not for the better. For years now, I have fallen asleep pretty easily, but I wake up, almost without fail, every night around 2 am and can be up for an hour or two, sometimes more. My restless nights have taken their toll, and I have made it an actual goal this year to find rituals and routines to help me sleep better.
Among the things I am doing to get more rest at night are the following:
1. Take my Live Ultimate Elixir every day which helps promote deeper sleep at night.
2. Take a bath with epsom salts and lavender oil (not every night, but as often as possible)
3. Take magnesium citrate supplements before bed which chill me out quite a bit 4. Use lavender essential oil blend on the bottom of my feet.
