It means you can shape them a bit to make them look life like and a bit more 3D 👍 You want to work relatively fast with the flowers so that they can start drying properly and take their shape. Eventually they’ll be too dry to continue moulding and will snap! Hands up if you made it to the gym today.... 🙄🙄.... not us. Do we feel guilty for not being there?... yes! Should we feel guilty? ... No! - We are fully aware that the gym is not a necessity and that there are different ways to be active but the feeling of guilt that you get when you don’t go is still there. This should not be the case, as after all the NHS recommends having at least 150mins of moderate activity each week to maintain a healthy body and mind. Therefore, there is no requirement to be in a gym everyday of the week to stay healthy. - I wanted to share this post as a reminder to us and to you guys that to lead a healthy life you don’t need to get to the gym everyday. This is my stats after a day at work and a short walk with the pup 🐶 Everyone is different in what they burn in a day and how active they are but making some small changes to your daily habits could save you the added pressure of trying to get big workouts in all of the time. - We are currently only going to the gym around 3 times a week but during these times we are focussing on cardio and strength based #hiit workouts. The rest of the week we go at least two walks a day with the 🐶 and make sure to move around every hour if we are at work. - Do we have a fitness model bod??? Top tip Tuesday! Wholegrains are a great way of increasing your fibre intake; keeping you fuller for longer and is very important in digestive health! They are also nutritionaly valuable, containing various B vitamins and antioxidants 🤗 . Wholegrains are associated with many health benefits including lowering cholesterol and may even reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer! (there is a link at the bottom for an interesting artice 👇👌). In addition it's great for keeping your weight under control! . . To add more wholegrains in your diet... . . 1) Instead of using more refined white breads, pasta or rice try opting for brown or wholegrain versions for your meals 🍞 . 2) You can try having a wholegrain breakfast such as porridge; add some seeds and fruit 🍓🍌🍒 for additional fibre, with a drizzle of honey for taste 😋🐝 . 3) Look out for wholegrain snacks such as popcorn 🍿 or flapjacks! You can make these at home and tailor it to your favourite flavour 👌 . 🚫 Don't forget when increasing your fibre intake it's important to drink plenty of fluids! In this week's useful resources and business tools post, I am going to share 3 of my favourite social media tools to help manage and automate social media posts. 1. IFTTT - An awesome automation tool where you create 'Applets' to automate tasks. Examples include - Sharing Instagram posts as images to Twitter, post your latest WordPress blogs to social media accounts, automatically turn Google Calendar events into Todoist tasks and even get todays' weather forecast everyday. It's so useful! 2. Buffer - A great tool with free and paid plans to manage all your social media accounts in one place. Schedule posts, study your analytics and have one central dashboard to post from. 3. Later - I particularly love the visual calendar in Later so I can see a preview of my posts for Instagram. Very easy to use and you can keep a library of pics which you just drag to your scheduled time. Keep It Real! You will have the best results from social media by using a mix of automation AND a personal touch. Add in content with a more personal touch to keep it real. For instance, dealing with questions and replies is something that needs to be done personally, and as promptly as possible. Avoid stock responses and instead reach out to users as individuals to show that your business cares. Like, follow, engage, post meaningful comments, build conversations and show value to help grow your brand and through social media. Hope you like this tip! It’s totally natural to want to avoid things that cause us anxiety but sometimes that avoidance is the very thing that keeps the fear alive and stops us moving forward in our lives. . . . If we keep away from the things that we are fearful of, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to learn that we can handle them - we also run the risk of keeping ourselves stuck in a smaller world than we deserve! . . . Naturally, some situations might be just too overwhelming or we might have the sense that we lack skills to deal with them. If this is the case, it’s useful to start with a small or diluted version of the things we fear and build from there. #TopTipTuesday 😁 When planning post-natal sequences, they should be slow, gentle and progressive. The aim of them is to gently stretch the body to offer relief from tired and stiff muscles, whilst introducing core stability work for the abdominal area and pelvic floor. Breath awareness should be employed throughout each practice and as with the physical practice, should be slow and steady. As yoga teachers we must adapt a yoga practice for post- natal women to ensure it is appropriate. The practice should aim to empower and nurture the mother and not deplete her precious energy stores. A dynamic practice with several vinyasas, big strong postures such as Warrior 1 and 2 and standing wide leg forward bends followed by strong inversions for example, would not assist a woman’s post-natal recovery. This is because during this time we need to work from the inside out and re-set the foundation, both physical and energetic, and by working the larger muscle groups in such postures we are building on something that does not yet have the correct ground work. The abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor need time to recover so they can work as a support system when the body is in motion, whilst the production of relaxin needs to reduce so the joints become more stable again. Think outside the box and try something new. It will not only challenge you but it will also activate different muscles in your body and get them working to the max. Yesterday one of my clients and I discovered some tyres in the park so I decided to base her workout around these heavy tractor tyres 😅 These tyres are huuuuge and heavy, it looked impossible to lift. However with the right guidance and instruction from me, she managed to flip that tyre several times!!! The workout was tough but so much fun and she left feeling energised. #TopTipTuesday Today's tip is all about sustainability and how I have been able to reduce the amount of waste I generate on a daily basis by implementing the 5'R Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot. You might think what is this all about and why would I want to refuse certain items. After slowly working my way through cleaning out items in our house that we have not used in the last year and probably would not use for the next few years, it had me thinking about why the hell I bought it in the first place. In order to prevent our house to clutter up again, I have decided to follow the 5'R. Refuse: Refuse all the items that you really do not need this can be anything from additional packaging that ends up in the bin to that extra pair of jeans, just because it is on sale. If you really do not need it refuse it. Reduce: Reduce the number of items that you purchase that you can not refuse. Instead of purchasing a large number of items that you might not all use just because they are on sale, rather purchase just what you need and invest in better quality items that will allow you to use the items for longer instead of throwing it out after one or two uses. Reuse: Reuse the items that you can not refuse or reduce. This can be anything from the way your shop groceries to the items you purchase. When at the grocery store I try my best to purchase package free where possible but for the items that do come in package I would try my best to select glass containers that can be reused again and again. Recycle: Recycled all the items that you can not refuse, reduce or reuse. Recycling for me is only number 4 on the list, as it is such a labour and energy-intensive process. There are many items that we think can be recycled but might not be recyclable at your recycling facility. It is important to know what can an cannot be recycled, before making the purchase. Rot: Rot (composting and for me, this closes the entire loop. If we compost all your food waste instead of throwing it in the bin to end up in a landfill and creating CO2 emissions. Top tip Tuesday! Believe it or not, if you apply concealer incorrectly, you can actually highlight your flaws, rather than conceal them. Here are some tips for properly applying concealer. Choose the correct color for the flaw you're trying to cover up. Moisturize your face before you start your makeup. Apply foundation first, then concealer, then touch up with a little more foundation. This helps you to use less concealer and allows it to stay on rather than wiping much of it off if you applied the full amount of foundation after. Lightly dab the concealer on with your concealer brush and blend well. For under eye circles, make sure to apply in a triangle, extending past the circles.
