Chest piece not finished yet, but wanted to thank @nessaurelia
for doing an amazing job on this inspirational quote.
This quote has inspired me for awhile now and I believe it fits who I am as a person. This quote is from a man named Martin Treptow who joined the armed forces in 1917 to fight in WW1 for America. He was killed in battle while attempting to deliver an important message to another platoon under heavy fire. On his body, they found his diary. One of the pages in his diary read:
My Pledge: “I will work, I will save, I will sacrifice, I will endure, I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone.” Martin Treptow was just a 23 year old barber from Wisconsin who decided to make a sacrifice and serve his country. I am forever grateful for his sacrifice and for all the individuals who have chosen to join the armed forces. I am nothing special, I am just a kid who grew up with a desire to serve and sacrifice like Martin Treptow.
This tattoo will remind me everyday that I have made 2 pledges in my life. The first is to my service and career in law enforcement. I pledge to make a difference in my community and in the lives I come in contact with. I am grateful to have a career that gives me purpose and allows me to help others. In today’s world, there is a lot of negative perceptions around law enforcement officers. I hope to change those perceptions into positive ones; because I know my partners who I work with day in and day out are amongst the hardest, most genuine people I know.
My second pledge is to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am no where near perfect and I make mistakes everyday. But I want to continue to improve and spread His love through my actions. I want to become a better person, son, friend, co-worker, Christian, and police officer by fighting for the best possible outcome in every situation until it is a present day reality. #thinblueline #supporttheblue
