Yesterday after the @cobblestonefarmersmarket
, I motored down curvy backroads towards Lewisville, four-way flashers on and cars whizzing around me. The van was filled with vintage linens, Market props, empty food bins and...this wedding cake.
I’m happy to report the cake arrived intact, was carried up a steep flight of back porch steps and deposited on snowy linens for an intimate wedding dinner. Now I can exhale.

Gathering around the dinner table with friends doesn’t have to be complicated. Many people have said to me, ‘’I am not a cook, so having people over for dinner intimidates me.’’
Let’s just kick that intimidation factor to the curb. Even if you’re not a fabulous cook, you can host a simple dinner party in your home. One of my favorite spur-of-the-moment menus is a charcuterie board topped with a variety of fruits, meats, cheeses and olives. Add some crusty bread with olive oil for dipping and mix up a simple bowl of pasta salad filled with summer vegetables and you’re all set.
This colorful spread was thrown together in half an hour with friends on our rooftop. We sipped Rosé and enjoyed each other’s company with meaningful conversation as we watched the sun set over the city. #revivingthedinnertable

A pile of Chocolate Covered Banana Slices? YES YES YES 💥 And they’re *so* easy! Just dip sliced bananas in a mixture of melted chocolate + coconut oil, sprinkle with your fave topping, and freeze! 👏🏼👏🏼
2 medium bananas, sliced
1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
3/4 Tbsp coconut oil
1/2 Tbsp cacao nibs, crushed
1. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and slice bananas
2. Melt chocolate and coconut oil together
3. Drop banana slices one at a time into chocolate, turn over with a fork, and scoop up. Tap extra chocolate off and place on parchment paper
4. Top with desired topping (or leave plain) and freeze. Store in the freezer

and her post sharing her own progression as a photographer over the years.
It’s so easy on social media today to fall into the comparison trap, especially when we have such direct access to the work of so many talented individuals. What is often missing is the knowledge of where each of those people began in their creative journey, and all the hours of practice, education, practice, training, and practice (ahem) that have led them to where they are currently.
So in the spirit of sharing, I thought I’d show you a BEFORE and CURRENT. I don’t actually want to label it as an after because that suggests completion, and my skills will surely continue to improve as long as I incorporate practice and dedication. It’s exciting to think that there’s so much more to learn, that the creative process has no end point. I am truly just beginning!
So I’ll post one of these every once in a while to remind myself just how far I’ve come - because the only person I should really be comparing myself to is me. When I compare my work to that of others, I often feel a sense of frustration and disappointment. Yet, when I compare my current work with my creations of just over a year ago, I feel a sense of wonder and pride.
And that’s just magic. ✨
