"I feel this way so it must be true." This statement, as well as others, can come across most of our minds. It sure did for me. There would be times I felt like a failure, so it must have been true because what else could explain it? A lot actually.
The brain is an amazing creation. It has millions if not billions of thoughts over our lifetime, and we're expected to filter these thoughts and feelings to figure out what's true or not...how overwhelming!
But with practice and exposing yourself to newer routines of thinking, you can overcome this!
The main statement I used to say was, "This has to be perfect." This was my go to thought and it never did me good. A healthier rational thought that I changed it to was "I'm doing my best right now." This has helped my days so much.
These small changes in language add up with daily practice! Don't get me wrong, feelings are present to help you navigate through difficult trials and can help you understand your personal experience, but it's still a great idea to challenge them still.
Not every feeling is a fact.

Meet Rosanna Fikes, MFT
I am Rosanna Fikes, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Petaluma Family Therapy. As a Sonoma County native, it is a privilege to work with youth, families, and adults in the local area. I have a client-centered approach, and I am passionate about helping people gain personal awareness in the face of challenges. I enjoy supporting people through the process of change, and my aim is to be a caring and encouraging person along this journey.
Experience - For the past 4 years, I have been working with Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) providing psychotherapy to youth and families. At SAY, I have worked in the Counseling Clinic, serving youth age 5-25 and their families. Prior to that, I provided case management services to adults with severe mental illnesses in a long-term care hospital setting in Santa Rosa, CA. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Theoretical Orientation - When working with individuals and families I use a collaborative approach, considering the needs of those involved, the goals for therapy, and the potential time frame available. While I have training and experience in several methods of therapy, the theoretical orientations that I generally draw from include: Humanistic, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Trauma informed care. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Hello to all you lovely people ❤ I'm Ginger Nutbrown, the medic on board the Aderyn. I sort of took the initiative for today's character takeover #WIPjoy
Today we're supposed to be doing a therapy session with our author and sharing the results here. However such an exercise would ultimately be embarrassing for her and that is the exact opposite of what therapy sessions are supposed to be for.
Instead I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone reading this that it is just as important to take care of your mental health as it is to take care of yourself physically. If you are struggling with this in any way, shape, or form please know there is help. You don't have to reach a certain level of not okay and just because there are people suffering worse than you does not make your own pain invalid.
Mental health is not something to be taken lightly and there is never any shame in getting whatever help you need. Please recognize the signs and seek out help before you find yourself in any darker of a place.
If anyone you know is struggling please take the initiative to reach out to them and offer your encouragement and support.
You can and you will get through this. I believe in you ❤❤❤❤

I miss my bike. That must sound crazy to some of you I know. How do you miss an inanimate object? Aside from the health benefits @onepeloton
offers, I get mental clarity from even just a 10 minute cool down ride. One of my goals this summer however was to really get a good strength training routine down in addition to my rides. Thanks to the Peloton app and all the new content they offer and @laurafay15
for providing me with some workouts to go, I’ve been keeping up with it on vacation! Slowly but surely I’m knocking out my goals! #strengthtraining #therapysession #begoodtoyourself #happy #weareone #togetherweridefar
Day 200 of 365
Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy (Hey, what up girl?)
Grab my glasses, I'm out the door; I'm gonna hit this city (Let's go)
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack
'Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back

Look for nature today. See it and explore it like a scientist would. Then, just like a scientist about to make a breakthrough, write down everything you know better. 🏔🦋🌿🕊🌹🙈🐸 .
We build around the beautiful things so we can enjoy it, honor it, cherish it. What are you building around you? Write down all that you want to surround yourself with...now go and build your life the way you want it. 🌇🏰🎬🛤
The writing’s on the wall. In this case it’s a mural of the rulers of Saxony. (Found in Dresden Germany). You’re a ruler too. Today, write about your fate and the writing on your wall.
It’s not definite, but I think I’m on to something! Do we achieve first before finding purpose? Or do we write our purpose so we can start achieving? Write down your dream purpose and see where running to it takes you! 🏰🗺🤹🏻♀️🧗🏻♂️🥇
This is my favorite sunset. But the ones I learn from the most, aren’t ever as beautiful as this. Write about the sunset that gave you the best lessons. 🌄🌅🌅🌇
I laugh at the scary parts. Sometimes, I read the end of the book before the beginning. Today’s journaling exercise: write down all the things that make you different. Then, cherish them for making the incredible you.💗🎉🥇
These are the locks of my broken heart. And they’re blocking my view. Today, I’ll write my heart out. Write the things that don’t let you see beauty anymore. Then, make room for the views.
