The powers that be could stand to watch some Luke Cage- as I will be when I’m done working today. Besides the talented and sexy @realmikecolter
(who I fell in love/lust with watching him on The Good Wife, and I hope to see him on the Good Fight, which sadly I’m so behind on 🤦🏾♀️), who was your fave character from Season 1? And please, no spoilers if you’ve already binged Season 2. I love Luke Cage (obvi), Cottonmouth, and of course my girl Misty Knight (and her afro).
The 2017 show based on the famous Marvel Comic character; Frank Castle Aka "The Punisher", has been one of my favorites ever since it came out. I can't stop thinking about it.
The first time I watched it, my eyes opened to see a new angle to what soilders are really like. With the main character and most of the characters being veterans, you get a clear picture of what most of soilders go through when they are at war, and when they come back from war.
But what fascinates me is what they do or how they cope with the new world they come to find once they are back to their mother country.
11% of soldiers that went to Afghanistan, came back with PTSD, and the show utilises that flaw to explore the many outcomes when it comes to a damaged veteran. Some veterans overcome that mental issue and do something better for other veterans, not all of them choose the better path.
One of the scenes that stood out to me the most was the last scene of the final episode, where Frank is sitting at a therapy group. This scene stood out to me because of the vulnerability he shows, after all the violence and death that happens, he's still open to share what he fears the most. What he fears the most is what happens after all the bullets are fired, the silence. He doesn't have a war to fight anymore, only with himself, to accept himself and love what he sees in the mirror.
This one of the scenes where Jon turns from Shane to Frank.
When I saw him look slightly at the camera and saying: "...I'm scared...", in that moment I knew that even the strongest have a vulnerable side to them.
