Tribute to My Mom Week:
...I love my mom's smile in this photo. It is full, and it beams. It makes me feel happy inside just looking at her face here. This is from the summer of 2013 when I was helping her and Doug move. We were struggling to get this couch through the door. Her smile shows how she felt about it. I would say this is my favorite photo of her in the past five years.
Fun Fact: Mom was an eccentric one. It was tough on a teenager to have the weird mom. Everyone loved her, but she was MY mom, but sometimes having that her talk to my friends was something else... I come from a place where it is important to not deviate from the norm too much, and everyone fits in. If you deviate too much, you get a label. But, Roxene Harris was my mom... I follow very few rules of norm today, likely because of her, but when you are a teenager you just want to fit in. And then your friends come over and mom says, "Lesley, how are you feeling today? Your aura is very yellow..." At moments like that as a teenager, I wanted to hide! Today it makes me proud that she was so wacky, and I would love to meet someone who would randomly make such a comment to me when I walked into a room. She was a gem. I did not know that until I was older but she was something special. And she was only herself...
