✖️I showed up to this photo shoot with the worst attitude 😳
It was raining, I had lost my only sweatshirt so I only had a tank top to cover my hair, my hair got wet and lost so much of its curl, and as a person who gets super anxious and awkward getting my picture taken... I was SURE there was no way I’d look good in any of them 😩
But >>> I was with my friend and one of my coaches, @danielle_mulloy
, and there were 2 other girls I had never met before, as well as the AMAZING photographer @shinesphotography
... and they all instantly helped me relax and feel better and get OUT of my negative, dramatic state of mind 🤦🏻♀️😆
It’s a community that’s THIS supportive, and a photographer that I never met but I was instantly comfortable with... that has helped me learn to “believe in (my) inner BADASS” >>> and I am so grateful to be part of a community like that ❤️🤘🏼

A HUGE misconception that I deal with almost daily is, just because you go to the gym, eat healthy, or love fitness. Does NOT always mean that you are trying to lose weight 🙌🏼 I don’t go to the gym to lose weight.
I don’t watch what I eat because I’m trying to lose weight. I don’t exercise daily because I’m trying to lose weight. ✨I go to the gym because I’m trying to put on muscle 💪🏼

✨I exercise daily because it makes me feel good 🏋🏽♀️ All my life I’ve heard countless times “You’re too skinny” 👎🏼 “Go eat a cheeseburger” 👎🏼

I filmed some body comp progress pictures this morning before my next training cycle, & I couldn’t help but see how comfortable I’m FINALLY looking in this body.
Just for fun I scrolled back a year to see where I used to be, and the biggest change is seeing how confident I finally feel. [💡bonus: I put the transformation on my story!]
I have some extra meat on my body, my legs, my stomach. I take up more space, I don’t really feel tiny like most “fit” girls feel.
but I fucking love it.
I’m finally moving towards my goals as a powerlifter, training seriously in the gym for strength & ability, and loving what I’m seeing in the mirror.

Marinade Recipe: 😋🍗
-4 chicken breasts cut into cubes
-6-8 cloves garlic (to taste) -3 inch piece of ginger (this is a must!!) -1/4 cup soy sauce -1 tbsp brown sugar -1 tbsp lemon juice -1 tsp chili flakes -salt and pepper to taste
-3 tbsp teriyaki sauce (optional)
-Place chicken on skewers
-Cook on high, indirect for 15-20 minutes
It pairs really well with a salad and cold beverage out on the deck, not that I would know or anything! 💁🏻♀️☀️🍹Let me what you guys think!

Morning yoga how I love thee! Starting out my Thursday with a short yoga session has really helped me both mentally and physically. It has given me the opportunity to focus on non-running goals. I love challenging myself to see if I can hold a certain pose. And, it also allows me to relax and clear my mind. Right now running doesn’t bring that mental release so it’s nice to have yoga to help me relax.
It has really helped me to increase my flexibility and build my strength, as well. My legs are shaking more after holding some of those poses than after a tough gym session! It’s crazy how much those little pulses and holds make those muscles burn!

today is my first official day of summer. i’m technically a senior, but i feel like im actually 12 🙃 anyone else relate?? 😂 but seriously, senior year is going to be L I T and while i can’t wait to enjoy this summer, i also am excited for school to start next fall.

I used to WORKOUT to combat GUILT 😭🍪.
When I DIDN'T workout, I would make myself feel MORE guilty for not doing so, and either not eat ANYTHING or eat because, "why not🤷🏼♀️?! I'm already off anyway?!" (helllo emotional eating). So innnto the vicious cycle of not feeling good about my body I would go.
I could go for stretches of time where I committed to my workouts- wouldn't miss a day & ate great but when I missed a day or two or three...I'd start eating like crap and feeling like it, too🙄😕.
I was ashamed. How could someone that cared so much about their health not be able to control themselves and just stay consistent🥗🏋🏽♀️!?
The truth is, I knew that trying to be PERFECT was the root of the problem and what was ACTUALLY holding me back from balance and feeling good about my body. ❤️. •
The extremes & GUILT HANGOVERS had to go👋👋👋.
And then I discovered SOMETHING that FINALLY worked for me. It wasn’t a new diet or workout or lose fat quick plan (**as all my other attempts had been) — It was a new COMMUNITY of like-minded women & the accountability I needed through being a coach👭. And once I embraced it, I felt like I finally had that balance I needed.
It wasn’t that I was 💯% 'on' with my health all the time, but I was FINALLY supported and surrounded by like-minded, positive women that encouraged me to keep going every single day, giving it my best. •
