🧘♀️ I am a yoga newbie. Surely this is supposed to look differently but it felt good like this so I held it. I love how yoga is a expressive movement of self. It’s a key component to the rehabilitation of my back injury. Making me stronger, more Flexible, adding mobility, guiding me in the direction of peace. It kept me sane (ish). I’m trusting the process - nothing else major to report! I’m focusing on my glute strength and really engaging them with @alexia_clark
workouts (though lighter on the weights after last weeks shocker!) and really concentrating to feel them engage on each run. I want to stop over compensating in races and minimise the chances of injuring my hip flexors (which is a recurring theme for me) and strong glutes is a great way to prevent that. And let’s face it, I still dream of a backside that resembles @jess.sweatss

How do you do yoga?
There was a time once when I was really hooked on bikram yoga and I loved it. My friend and roommate at the time @aleighf2016
was super good at it and she got me hooked. But that lasted about a month because it was expensive and once it got hot outside I couldn’t do hot inside and hot outside haha.
It was super good though. I loved how I felt after and it really helped me become more flexible which helped my running game which was strong back then.
I can’t even tell you the last time I did yoga but with it being #internationalyogaday
it’s got me thinking I should take a class again - maybe just regular yoga, it summer and 100 outside I don’t want to think about doing Bikram yoga in this heat.
What classes do you like taking? Yoga? Pilates? High Fitness? Tell me!
Tonight I won’t be doing yoga but I will most likely be drinking a glass of wine because #balance

To me it means the acceptance of what currently is while working to improve upon it. This has been a struggle my entire life. To find and love the beautiful things within myself. Fighting the negativity and darkness that cloud my view. To see only what's negative is a habit I developed early on in life. I could cry & cry over the circumstances or events that made it easy to develop this habit. But that simply gives my past power over me. . .
Ultimately, I'm thankful because it led to my competitive nature and fueled my desire to excel no matter what it took, but it came at a crushing cost to my self-image. .
It led me to a young and unhealthy marriage, spending thousands of dollars on fake boobs hoping to buy my self worth (instead of discovering it), and at my lowest to tasting what a loaded gun down your throat feels like. I am FREEING myself from unwanted material. I am elevating who I am. One day at a time. .

I looked back in my log and saw that around that time, I was benching 15lb dumbbells. •
Three years later, it’s not quite a bear 😂, but it’s well over half my body weight at 85lbs (and I haven’t benched in a while so I’m working back up to my PB at 95). •
The sentiment still holds true for me though, I don’t care in the least about getting smaller, just stronger! 💪🏼
