Important life update and story time!!!
Let me introduce my dad to those of you who don’t know who he is! He’s the man who taught me to love the outdoors (along with my mom), showed me how to shoot, how to work hard, how to honor Christ in life, & how to make the best fart jokes. He’s the guy who gave me my love for ice-cream, he’s a daily inspiration. He’s one my best friends; He’s my dad. My dad is also other thing:
He’s a kidney transplant patient. He received his first kidney almost 20 years ago and has been rocking life all these years with a transplanted kidney!
However, even transplanted kidneys fail. His kidney function began to rapidly drop to a level that is unsustainable to live with for an extended period of time; this put him in a spot to receive another transplant. The wait to receive a cadaver kidney is 4 years. Quite frankly, that’s not possible for him. The next best option is a living donor. (you actually only need one kidney to live! Isn’t the human body cool?) My mom was not a good match to donate so I said I would be tested. God bless my dad and I are a very good match for donation. That being said NEXT FRIDAY, July 27th, we will be undergoing a kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN! I’m excited for the process and to get my dad to feel better. Any prayers would be sooooo appreciated during this season of life for both of us. (But hey, I get a pretty dope scar!) #staygold
