Know that girl who always starts something but never finishes it? That’s me. That WAS me.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I cried just thinking about the Race. I kept on putting off registering because I was too scared to do it. I am not an athlete, I have zero experience on anything athletic, i was just too weak, I would even run out of breath just playing with Gavin. 4 months ago I started training for this Race. This was my goal, anything aesthetic was the least of my concern. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this. That I can finish it, and I did. The abs was just a bonus 😂
The race wasn’t easy, it was hard, made even harder by the treacherous terrain and weather conditions. Sandy, hot, dry and running on volcanic ash(?) felt like running with ankle weights on. Running with injuries, not fun either. My TMj, was also making a cameo by locking my jaws while I was doing my bucket carry. I experienced the worst cramp of my life more than halfway through the bucket carry. I felt my arms tighten, and my left hip start to cramp that I literally half dragged my left leg to the end. I was lucky enough to have @glor.yen
at the end because she massaged my arms till the cramps stopped. ❤️ I would not have made it in one piece had it not been for my brother (@lainskie
) and gym bud (@abbiesv01
) do the race with me and made the miles and obstacles bearable. Also, running with a period and a tampon felt like having a tiny weight was lodged in between #therewillbeblood
I finished and I’m alive and I’ve got a medal to prove it! Thank you errbody for cheering me on and following my journey from Zero to Spartan ❤️ this is just the beginning. #spartanup #aroo
