Celebrating all of the amazing fathers in my life... Spending Sunday with my big brother & missing my younger brother. #happyfathersday
FACT!: Most parents in prison are fathers (744,200 fathers compared to 65,600 mothers). The Welfare Reform Act of 1996 imposed unduly harsh punishments on people convicted of felony drug crimes by permanently denying them welfare benefits (TANF) and food stamps.
Lets help rebuild fathers in prisons, & protect the children of the incarcerated! ❤️

Happy Sunday IG fam. Can you believe there are only NINETEEN (19) days until #GoodWorksCamp2018

We hope you’re having a great summer! What are you looking forward this summer?
Trust his kindness today, and every day. 💛
On this Father’s Day my cousin found the letter that my father wrote to his parents upon his high school graduation: “ Dear Mom and Dad, a person becomes what he is not because of fate or destiny. He is what he is because of the people who have influenced his life. It is easy to be nothing for it takes no effort but to be something in the eyes of those who love you is difficult. Because of the difficulty, one must truly be loved in order to achieve that which is important to those who love him. The love, inspiration and courage you have given me have been my greatest assets. Without that I am nothing. I have given you but one moment to be proud. You have given me the secret of life. - Sonny” Happy Father’s Day to all of our #dadvocates
, as we celebrate the love you give, and the love you inspire.
My dad, my brother, and my father in law! Happy Father’s Day to these men who mean so much in my life!
Many don’t know this but I could have lost my father to police brutality last year. I can now talk about it without tearing up. Thank God for preserving your life in the midst of evil and chaos. You are my gift.

Happy Father’s Day from GGRF! Celebrating dads that support their kids in becoming their best selves.
Noradine Demboba // GGRF Athletic Scholar Fatuma's Dad
“I didn't have a chance to learn. I never went to school as a child. Today, I help my children to learn by being a daily laborer."
“In the Girls Gotta Run Program, my daughter gets additional education like life skills that I can't teach her and I appreciate that."
“She has a good chance with this program. I am proud of her."
Fatuma Noradine // Fatuma is 14 years old, is in 7th grade and is a GGRF Athletic Scholar. She lives with her family in a traditional farm house that her dad built in Bekoji.
“I am happy when I go to practice. I love the girls in the program. We help to advise each other and talk about how to do better in school during tutorial." - Fatuma
Paternal incarceration has been found to increase aggression, depression, anxiety, attention problems, and delinquency in young boys and adolescent men.
to all the loving fathers, & sending special love to the Sons being effected by mass incarceration. 🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿
This cute one has a special story. He was not officially part of our program, but every Sunday he tried to sneak into our rooms and sit among the other kids to also get food. Our project manager in Acholi Quarter, Susan Laker, would find him sitting once in room 1, another time in room 2 or 3. Even when she chased him away he would just run quickly a circle and a few minutes later sneak in again and sit among the other kids. °
Of course we would love to give all kids in the slum food. But unfortunately our weekly budget is not enough for that. However what can you do if a young boy is so stubborn and persistent ? Well nothing. So from that moment on little Emmanuel joined us every Sunday for lunch. °
So when one of our social workation participants (@traveltopuravida
) asked Susan what the name of his sponsor is she just could shrug her shoulders and told her that he has no sponsor as he officially is not even in our project and we still have ten other kids on our website who look for a sponsor. °
Well also for Steffi this answer of course didn't stop her of taking actions. And a day later Emmanuel found already a sponsor (without even being on the website). When @sebkuehn
heard the story he immediately wanted to sponsor this little boy. °
The power of story telling is so great!! And this all thanks to all those wonderful people who came to Uganda to visit our project first hand.
25 AUGUST- 16 SEPTEMBER we host another social impact workation for digitalnomads and change makers: they can work on their own projects, learn during the mastermind sessions with local entrpeneurs and visit our projects in their free time to help us out! Introduction to another artist for our arts festival is:
Vera Lubbe was born in Pretoria in 1977, and grew up in the bushveld of Limpopo. She studied Architecture at the University of Pretoria. After completing her degree, she decided to study accounting and to keep her creative side to after-hours practice, constantly swaying between these two worlds.
Vera is an accountant by training. A bean counter and book keeper, doing what artists might call mind-numbing, tiresome monotonous work. Being counted amongst artists, does not seem to fit the mould perfectly, but she uses her painting as creative outlet, whilst logic, rules and regulations fills her work days.
This freedom to create is resonated in all her pieces. Vera works predominantly in the medium of acrylic painting on canvass, using bright and bold colours and then completing the artwork with crayon, ink, pen and pencil drawings, glue, photographs, tabloid media – really anything she wants to and feels like at the time. Some pieces are filled with puzzle pieces and magazine quotes. Pieces are not planned nor does she know what the piece will end up being by the time it is finished. Most works are finished within a short time frame and reflects her state of mind at that time.
Publically displaying her pieces is a first and putting her creativity out for criticism is a bit daunting. But this time is different… It has the additional benefit of helping a very courageous boy. Ingo is every minute of every day making tremendous efforts to be part of and participate in this beautiful world and through this he has given her the push to put just herself out to the world.

While we enjoyed the view of the standard school I posted yesterday. Here is another school I photographed here in Lagos. We had to use a canoe to cross a large pool of stagnant water. The state of this school left me emotional for days. There are over 400 pupil accessing learning here. They have one of the most enthusiastic set of pupils I have ever seen. I had a discussion with the school principal, who is also the owner and I can tell how passionate she is to help her community. This was the first time I heard about the pay- as- you- go school fee model. The pupil pay N70/day ans days the parents are unable to afford the daily fee, they stay at home. Very flexible and thoughtful approach.
They need all the help they can get. If you have any idea on how we can help reform the school and give them a better environment for learning. Please reach out via my DM. It's a project I am very passionate about. I finally summoned the

I told myself I wouldn’t do an outdoor market in the summer again, after a particularly long, draining and sweaty weekend experience in Brooklyn a few summers ago. The summer heat today reminds me of that quiet and adamant promise I made to myself. But I can change my mind. Call it a willingness to experiment and try things again and sometimes again...or...insanity. Artists and entrepreneurs have a little bit of crazy and risk taking to their nature anyway and I am no exception. But hey there’s jazz, good weather, conversation, milkshakes - thank goodness for milkshakes. It’s still hot and every part of my body is beginning to stick. But we’re out here, meeting you, sharing our work, and enjoying Sunday in our city.
To all the makers and brands and local businesses that do this week in and week out, we see you and respect the work, the heart, the hustle. It isn’t easy to do this and a lot of times not your first choice to share your work at outdoor markets dealing with load ins and load outs, but you’re out here creating good things and services and creating your life. Speaking to your happy and bringing positive energy to spaces. Happy Sunday all and also happy father’s day to all the pops out there. #madeindc #shopmadeindc #smallbiz #smallbizlife
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
You're the best there is. Have a great weekend!

At a private dinner party i had the pleasure of being introduced to Baroness Katie Ashton. She was involved in negotiations re: the Iranian deal... she shared insights about the process, which i have found interesting to hear from a person who was actually one of the people practically involved in the talks... #baroness #privatedining #theivy #ivy #socialimpact #negotiations
