Safe and Supported.
Practicing new movement and awareness of my body after a great session with my favourite coach of all time, @bewellpersonaltraining
Taking a moment to reflect on all these random, but important thoughts I'm having... Like, what modalities have and haven't worked in the past... What theories have helped and those that have actually hurt or hindered... Professionals who understand and those who act like they do, but don't actually.
Realizing how much more of an advocate for certain movements I want to become.
Noticing how much people need to be more conscious that you don't always see the pain someone is in... they assume you look strong and healthy and you appear to move well, so you must be fine.
Seeing quite clearly that there needs to be a bigger honest window for true and full recovery after ANY trauma, injury, insult, or surgery... because, let's be honest, it can take years to gain the strength and organization of movement you once had. AND THAT'S OKAY. You do not need to bounce back in record time.
Realizing that for some of us, I'm willing to bet, MOST of us, we need to feel safe and supported in expressing what we feel as we heal and just in knowing we're okay.
Im just going to repeat that part...
We need to feel SAFE and SUPPORTED!!! 😇
I am a strong woman who has had to be independent and sometimes alone on this healing journey. It feels damn good to feel supported and guided and like I am FINALLY on the right road. I know there will be bumps (last night's surgerysite setback was one), but I'm not as worried or scared.... and it's that support that has made all the difference.
