🥁 Drumroll please! 🥁 I know you have been anxiously waiting for the answer to yesterday’s post! ••• The answer is changing my shoulder position! Congrats to those of you that answered correctly! ••• Many times with overhead squats and snatches athletes lose their shoulder position and the shoulder joint starts to roll forward, creating internal rotation. (1st 📷) This then requires the wrist to extend back more to try and keep the barbell overhead. ••• To fix this, stay more active through your shoulders. Think “reach up” and “break the bar” to promote more external rotation of the shoulder joint. (2nd 📷) It is a subtle difference but you can see my armpits more in this position. You have no way to know if you’re making progress, so there’s no reason to keep pushing yourself. There’s no record of what you’ve accomplished, where you came from, or what your goals are, so you’re just going through the motions. . . This is why tracking your progress is so essential! . If you’re tracking your progress, it’s much easier to keep pushing towards a goal. Tip 4: WIGGLE THOSE TOES! That’s right folks get those piggies wiggling. During travel and enforced sedentary activity you want to maximise your blood flow, keep joints active and keep that blood pumping! By wriggling your toes you will help that flow via muscular action and stop the pooling that can occur during flight.
