Our first brown egg 🙌🎉 After much drama, Penelopeep finally managed to lay for us. Who knew chickens could be so emotional? Or loud? 🎤🎧
In other news, summer has been brutal over here ☀️🔥 Jon added a small AC unit to the coop
#spoiledchickens and we've been keeping the girls cool with frozen berries, watermelon, and an occasional dunk in a tub of lukewarm water when temps hits triple digits.
And they've thanked us for our kindness by digging up some of my plants and dust bathing whereever I put down fresh soil 🤷♀️ To sum up the whole experience, I think it was
@thewoodsysort that said it best, "I drastically underestimated the amount of poop I'd be dealing with". All that aside, we really do love having backyard chickens 🐓🥚
