How do you talk to yourself when things go wrong, or you made a mistake, or unintentionally hurt a loved one? What do you tell yourself?
Is there self-criticism? Calling yourself an idiot or feeling rubbish for letting someone down?
It happens, we are human and discovering how my negative self-talk was a part time job in self-abuse, woke me up to how much I was harming myself (self-criticism actually releases stress hormones into our body), AND it’s something I can control.
If you’re anything like me, when you first realise this, you are tempted to give yourself a hard time about not knowing this sooner, and the cycle begins all over again #begentle
Here’s another view.
Have you seen (or done) the experiment with the plants? Speaking to one with criticism and attack causes it to wilt and die, and speaking to a plant with kindness and love helps it to grow.
Your body is your plant. Be kind when you speak to it. 🌴
If you’d like to continue gently exploring more self-kindness for yourself, the tools in Discover Your Shine will help you do this.
It is a bite-size course to help you relieve stress and create ease in your life, for only £37.
Try it today, along with a workbook and audio options (you get all of them and can access them online immediately). Link in bio 🌳
