Because facts, not emotions. Of the over 15,070 homicides committed by firearm in 2016, only 374 were committed by rifles, that’s 2.48%. Yet all everyone ever talks about is the scary black rifles. Why is that? Is it because they are the easiest to get the general public emotional about? Maybe it’s so that they can start the bans with the easy targets, those scary rifles.
All I know is that more people die from second hand smoke and drunk drivers than all firearms deaths combined, let alone rifles, several times more, but we never talk about taking away law abiding people’s cigarettes or automobiles.
The one thing that I do agree with, however, is that thoughts and prayers aren’t enough. I don’t want thoughts and prayers, I want armed security watching over my children at school and at home. We protect politicians with guns, we protect entertainers with guns, why can’t we protect our children with guns too? I read on one person’s post somebody commented “but then that will be scary to our children”, the world is a scary place and the more we hide our heads in the sand and ignore that, the more people are going to die. We need to deal with terrorism at our schools with security, just like we do everywhere else. #2nd #sheepdog
