Your vibe attracts your tribe 🌟 And guys?? These are my people. I know you hear me talking about coaching & probably don’t realize that I get to work with these ladies on the daily! I lead a team of coaches like myself who I personally mentor to reach their fitness goals, financial goals, & really any life goal because we‘re family like that! 🤗 We may be from all over the country, but today (for the first time ever!!!) we’re together in Indy and you would NEVER know that we haven’t been lifelong friends. 🦄
I’m currently 4.5 hours into a massive DC traffic jam less than two miles from my house. One accident on one bridge has the power to shut down the Nation’s Capitol for half a day. No joke. Oh and I’ve got a 6 yo in the car as an added bonus.
Normally, this type of situation would send my stress levels soaring, especially as I haven’t had time for either dinner or a workout today. Oddly, my little boy finds this all hilarious so I’ve been able to stay calm and laugh a lot. He’s found where the school buses sleep and laughed for a full 10 mins when some old guy parked his car in the middle of the lane to go pee on the side of the road. He’s now playing Star Wars games on his iPad; and I’m scrolling through videos on my phone. This one of us dancing last weekend will make me smile forever. It is literally perfect.
Perspective is a hard thing to get when you’re in a situation that’s out of your control. But, when everyone is safe and happy, it is easier, even entertaining at times. Stay focused, #fitfam
, and don’t worry about the little things too much. I eventually will get home even if I could have run a marathon in the time I’ve been sitting in this traffic jam.
Jumping on the #transformationtuesday
bandwagon! Left is yesterday and right is a year ago... a year ago I wasn't eating/fueling correctly, running was #freetherapy
for me and it was just another 5K that I ran in around 35 minutes. A best for me, but it didn't feel like a PB. If you've been following awhile, you'll know that I DNF'd a marathon last fall. I firmly believe I burnt out running myself into the ground, mentally and physically in 2017. Though I'm about 20 lbs heavier than I was last summer, for once in my life I'm eating right. I'm only a few months into eating smart and probably have a ton of work to do still, and I hope that I soon get to see the numbers on the scale lessen rather than go up. Regardless, I am recovering quicker than I have been after a workout and feeling physically better than ever. 🏃🏼 Fueling your body is so worth every ounce of energy used to discipline yourself. Weight loss is a long road and bettering your relationship with food has A LOT to do with stabilizing your weight and bringing it down to healthier levels. In the last couple weeks I've gained even more and I pray to God 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 that it is muscle weight and not my body accumulating water and fat. However, none of my pants fit and it's incredibly frustrating!! Though its not a huge visual difference in this comparison, the mental difference is huge... and its what's on the inside that counts right??? Love the body you have, its the only one you've got....... or something like that. I was never thin to begin with, but with weight left over from 2 pregnancies, I want to slim down to see how my running improves (and for my health, too I guess 🙄.) It would also be nice to fit in my pants by fall with more muscle than I currently possess 😎
I can officially say I just had my first run in nearly two months with ZERO KNEE PAIN!! 🎉🎉🎉🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃! So happy - I no longer feel like I’m forever broken 😅. Injury does get better - if you’re in the injury boat right now just take it easy, see a professional and you’ll be back out there in no time (even if it doesn’t feel at all like that now). I’m one happy chappy 😊. #runyourmindfree #injuredrunner
So I shouldn't be allowed to buy running gear. I appear to favour blues and greens and, unfortunately, my new ASICS gear matches our garden shed!! .
Nice slow run for couch to 5k today. The wind was high and I have a twinge in my back so took it easy. Week 4 done though, onto week 5 on Friday.
Dinner was slimming world pad Thai (without the chilli) and was delicious!
Whose idea was it to do leg day before a 5 hour road trip?! 🙈
So it turns out I should have started my marathon training for Chester on Monday. Instead of doing 5 miles easy I did 12 miles, oops! So yesterday I took a rest day instead to recover. .
Today was due to be 6 miles steady at 7:30 pace.i probably went a little slow as I literally threw my stuff done after getting in from work, cleared up mess made by the poorly cat got changed and went straight out. The first couple of miles were too slow. Last full mile was 7:13 and little bit towards the end was at 6:52 pace. Ended up only having time for just over 4 miles but more than enough for today and all I could do before dentist!
When life throws you lemons, grab your running shoes 🏃

The Voices in Your Head
I rarely wear my hair down. When I do, it always resurfaces weird memories. Last year when I had extensions in my then red hair, a random creepy old guy informed me he preferred my hair up than down. Also, many moons ago, an ex told me he hated it when I wore my hair exactly how I am today, saying it “wasn’t flattering.”
For some reason, it has become socially acceptable to comment on how women look. This is not acceptable. No one would ever say those things to a man. Look, as a fashion editor, I believe that well-made clothing that fits has the transformative power to effect self esteem. But, I also believe in personal style and in fundamental self expression. In retrospect, I should have told both parties to f#%k off. But, I was polite and even internalized it, which is unfortunate.
Not only should I be able to wear what I want; but also I should be able to do so without worrying about being up for public comment. I post my fitness pics because I like to track my progress and love my workout clothes. I’m not here to be ogled or propositioned.
Ladies and gentlemen, how do you deal with trolls, either digitally or in real life?
Fueling up for our ROAD TRIP! Mashed sweet potato with chia pudding and all the coffee! ☕️ I pre-bake my sweet potatoes and eat them cold...anybody else like cold sweet potatoes or is that just me? 🤷🏻♀️
Well, doesn't my lunch look, erm, delicious? Have to admit it doesn't look great but it does smell nice. I do, however, have one particular issue with slimming world and that is: why do every single one of their ready meals have spice in them? Do they not want people who struggle with spicy food to buy them? I try the ones without the little chilli signs and they're still too spicy!!!! Gah! Rant over
Last day over here in VA! Kept it slow and explored some new areas, I always love running while traveling because the miles fly with new sights to see! Even though I’m not in DC this trip- I’m super close, so thought I’d give you all some fun facts about the nation’s capitol!
🇺🇸 Washington DC gets more rain annually than Seattle 😱🌧
🇺🇸George Washington never lived in the White House, it was built after he died.
🇺🇸There are 35 bathrooms in the White House 🚽 🇺🇸Every road in the city leads to the capitol building.
🇺🇸Darth Vader is one of the heads of the gargoyles on the National Cathedral •
🇺🇸Jimmy Carter holds the record for most movies watched in the White House- 480! 🎥 •
🇺🇸One of the soldiers buried in the tomb of the unknown soldiers was actually identified in 1998- so he’s now “known”!
