“Judging a person does not define who they are—it defines who you are”.
Over the weekend I went to a lecture by Queen Spiritual Guru @gabbybernstein
who covered the topic of “judgment”. And as I was listening to her speak more & more, it came aware to me just how much our lives revolve around this concept—either of us judging others or feeling like the victims to it.
But where do these actions come from? If you look closely enough, as Gabby pointed out, they come from something deeper than the surface level comment or acts we make. In actuality, they root from personal fears based off our past events when we were left feeling as if we weren’t good enough in some aspect of our lives. And when these fears trigger us, we find it easy to respond with a form of judgment—either out towards others or inwards to ourselves.
From social status to looks, race & wealth, we are constantly under the battle of feeling like we’re not good enough in some aspect of life & judgment kicks in as our way to make ourselves feel less inadequate, insecure, or unworthy. It’s easier to judge someone else or beat ourselves up for being judged than to examine something we fear we lack.
What I’ve come to learn though is that all of our fears root from stories we’ve created for ourselves from past experiences—a huge separation from what actually happened in those experiences. Yet, we continually let these stories take over our lives, leading us into a never-ending cycle of feeling like we’re not good enough.
I write these #MondayMotivation
posts every week to inspire ways in which I think we can all better ourselves & get rid of the things that are preventing us from living our #BestLyfe
. So for this week’s #inspilaine
, the next time you see yourself judging someone or feeling like you’re being judged, I encourage you to stop & examine what the root of the issue REALLY is and why the act is affecting you so much. When we recognize our fears & understand why we do the things we do, we can begin to grow & move past the things weighing us down, like our insecurities, and have room for SO many endless & freeing opportunities ahead. Anyone else feel me??
