had a fun night at an arcade, and it got me thinking about arcades and my memories I have of them. There's been a bit of a resurgence with Barcades etc, but nothing will beat those original dark, neon lit meccas of arcade cabinets and pinball tables a lot of us grew up with. So I thought I'd share a memory or two from arcades of days gone by, and what the heck? How about I try to get a new tag going?! How about #ArcadeAnecdotes
?! Sounds good! I'm tagging a buttload of you from all over Earth to share ANY arcade memories you may have! From the miniscule to the more detailed! When you're done, tag more friends and let's have a community wide Member Berry session! And if you're not tagged in this post, of course you can always join in!
It was my Dad's birthday a few days ago. Also we just had Father's Day. Both occasions that anymore, for me personally, kinda suck and they bubble up some bitterness and hurt. But I'd be remiss if I didn't look back on the great times with my Dad who also was my best friend. Before we moved back to Medford after the 2nd Grade, we lived a little further up north in the Cottage Grove/Springfield/Eugene area. Our closest mall was the Gateway Mall in Springfield. There was a HUGE food court, and at one side we had a Tilt arcade that was massive! My Dad would take me there somewhat regularly and we'd spend HOURS in there. They always had the coolest, most recent and current games(First time I saw TMNT The Arcade Game. God what a mind blowing game) and a good variety of Pinball and Ticket games. I'd always leave with some little toy or two from the redemption center. One of my most memorable days was when, for whatever reason, we decided to beat Golden Axe. And we did! Sure, we probably pumped tons of money into it(hey I never said we were amazing gamers lol) but we beat it! I'll never forget the end where sprites of a man and boy (HOW DID THEY KNOW?) playing a Golden Axe machine get chased around by characters from the game after it blows up 😂. I could go on and on, and even share more memories. I might too! Let's just see if people like the tag. 😘
