Your Saturday afternoon BOOP (Sallie Mae in her cone of shame)
Day 26/100: Nova loves lots of “games” - I’ve already shown off some of her tricks and agility, so here is one of her other favorite things! We haven’t practiced nosework in a while, so I started out with some “easier” hides. We have really been working on her alert, as she started to get lazy and would sit in the general area but not give me a clear indication. So, I start by making sure she’s holding her nose to the scent and focusing on it, and then eventually I accept a sit as her alert. I need to get her into a nosework class so she can learn other scents (we’re using birch oil) and start practicing with more distractions. I’m also hoping to get her into some agility classes soon, so she can get used to different equipment!
My favorite way to start every day! 😍😍❤️❤️
Hi! I’m Huxley! How are you? 😌
Mom isn’t sure why I sleep in such weird positions... 😝🐾😴
Having a classically grumpy Saturday already, chillin’ on the couch with my favorite pillow... 😁😡😴
On rainy days I just like to sleep
Toby’s rescue tale♥️ DM or email us your rescue story and selfie to be featured 📩 email@example.com
“Toby is an almost 3 year old terrier mix from A Paw and a Prayer Rescue in Chattanooga. He was an unexpected addition as we had just lost our faithful 12 year old Dachshund mix, Javy. However, after just going to ‘pet’ rescue puppies, we adopted Toby on October 10th, 2015, one month later. He helped heal our broken hearts, and we found out when we got him home he shares Javy’s birhday! He is the happiest dog in the world and never has a bad day!” – @gunnertobyandscout

Hi friends, my name is Abba!! I am a middle/senior aged boxer. I was recently hit by a car, put in the shelter, and my family never came looking for me. Despite all of this, I am the SWEETEST little lady you will meet, and I am still very mobile. I am resting up for a few weeks to let my leg heal, but the good news is I will heal just fine and will be ready for my forever family. I love my dog siblings and I go to the door when I need to go potty. Please don’t let my age or injury fool you, I would make an awesome addition to your family. I am available for adoption through @adoptapitrescue

I had so much fun this morning with Maisie and Snoop! We've been discussing and demonstrating how to build confidence, preventing jumping up, walking with a loose lead, recall and the importance of mental stimulation.

Mommy, am I pretty? - Freckles.
Yes baby girl, you are. I’m sorry if you question if you are. I know society and social media deem that you and other rescue dogs are not good enough. They see you missing an eye and see you as “damaged”. They see all the grey on your face and think you are “old”. They see that your sister, who survived the meat trade, not as photogenic enough because she’s a mixed breed and has bald spots on her neck (the hair is growing back). ###
Where am I going with this? I’ve noticed how advertising or influencers never are or never use rescue dogs (specifically mixed breeds). Why? Are they not good enough? I feel so many advertisements are saying that pure bred dogs are the only beautiful dogs out there. I can’t be the only person who notices this and is highly annoyed by it.
