Great to hear @codeorangetoth
put out their new single "Only One Way" yesterday 👌
For those who haven't seen my previous post I'd like to repeat myself:
In my job as a music journalist I often heard and talked about the assumption that metal, hardcore music or metalcore is more than dead. After I stopped worrying too much about everybody's thoughts and badmouthing I went to much more shows and experienced so much passion and corporate feeling that it made me smile so often. I stepped more into photography and live reviews because that's where most of the magic happens.
Now seeing a band like @codeorangetoth
being nominated for a Grammy brings a lot of emotions to me. First: FUCK YES! There is this ultra-brutal band getting so much attention and playing such sick shows as support for @systemofadown
(where this photo is from) or @gojira
and so on! Music, that gets you thrilled like old @slipknot
stuff, such unique and powerful metal you won't hear often. You can think what you want of the Grammy's and all around. I am not in the slightest a fan of award shows, big dislike. Categorizing art and choosing a winner is so surreal to me. Especially when there's a lot of money and business behind. With saying and feeling this: I am glad I don't know too much about how and why musicians are chosen to be nominated for things like a Grammy. But that some kind of music industry moguls made the decision to mirror such brutal music at least in the nominations means something. Don't say that metal is dead. It's there, inspiring and more diverse than ever. You just have to listen.
