“If you discovered something that made you tighten inside, you better try to learn more about it.” -Nicholas Sparks, Message in a Bottle (1998)
When something piques your interest, you gotta Google it, read a book/blog about it, look it up on Youtube, etc. Fuel that fire. There’s a reason it resonates with you in the first place 💪🏼
For me I’ve been trying to learn more about psychology, and why people do what they do. What are you trying to learn more about? 🤔

Today’s challenge is learning to step back! Letting our kids do things on their own like their homework 😉 or trying out for a team you don’t think they will make or for littles-just getting dressed on their own. This can be a very hard thing for me as a parent. I’m much better at it in the classroom. But I’m feeling encouraged and inspired by some of the comments in the Facebook community today. How do you step back and let kids take safe risks? I’m thinking in the end it will help develop grit and greatness! 👆Thanks @weerascals
for this sweet and 🎉💪
I received THE SPACE BETWEEN by Dete Meserve last night from Lake Union Publishing and @netgalley
Thank you! I started reading the first few chapters and I'm hooked! 😍 I can't wait to find out what happens 🤓It is set to be released on July 24, 2018!! 📚📚Check out the synopsis: After presenting a major scientific breakthrough to a rapt audience across the country, renowned astronomer Sarah Mayfield returns home to a disturbing discovery. Her husband, Ben, a Los Angeles restaurateur, has disappeared, leaving behind an unexplained bank deposit of a million dollars, a loaded Glock in the nightstand, and a video security system that's been wiped clean. The only answers their son, Zack, can offer are the last words his father said to him: keep the doors locked and set the alarm.
Sarah's marriage was more troubled than anyone suspected, but now she is afraid that her husband's recent past could be darker than she dares to admit. Suspecting that nothing about Ben's vanishing is what it seems, Sarah must delve into the space between old memories, newfound fears, and misleading clues to piece together the mystery of her husband's disappearance--and find what she hopes in her heart is the truth. 📚📚
Good morning! So I'm feeling pretty good today and I'm excited to get back to work on this painting because next week It's going into the St Vincent's Private Hospital 'Outside In' exhibition for 6 months.
While I've been working on it I've had different people try to guess what that large animal is and some guesses have been quite off the mark. I'm hoping it's obvious now. Let me know what you think.

Sunkissed little boys are just everything. Spending every other day at the beach has been amazing and something that I deeply cherish.
You see, when my kids are older, and their life layers start peeling back like the layers of an onion, I want them to be peeled back and full of love: unconditional, unyielding love. Love that was based in experiences with people who loved them at both their highest, most proud moments and those moments that were low and dark.
I want my kids to be kind and accepting; they will be able to break bread with those who don’t have homes or money in the bank as well as those who own the bank. They will be able to do so because experience has taught them well.
Life is grand.
Did NOT spend my day like this, but I seriously wish I had 😂 anyone else?! ☕️📖
Today on the blog I’m sharing a fantastic Q&A with Shannon Kirk, whose deranged & addictive psychological thriller IN THE VINES is on sale today!! 🕵🏻♀️🖤 In our Q&A, Shannon shares insider insights into the two women who drive this chilling thriller, how the current news cycle fueled her fiction writing, and a whole lot more. Direct link to the Q&A in my bio!! 🤓
I’m now about 175 pages into THE HYPNOTIST by Lars Kepler, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, I’m loving it 😱 THE HYPNOTIST begins with a gruesome murder, and quickly evolves into a layered and chilling mystery that goes well beyond the story’s opening crime. In true Kepler form, THE HYPNOTIST is a true page-turner - I’ve found myself doing the whole “just one more page” thing while reading it, which is the BEST feeling. 👌🏻 I’m loving the introduction of hypnosis into the story as well - it adds a really unique flavor to the investigation to have a hypnotist on board to help solve the crime! 🕵🏻♀️
If you could teleport yourself anywhere right now for a reading break... where would you go?! 📖

after all! This story is about perseverance, women empowerment, and science, technology, engineering, and math (#stemgirls
)! I love encouraging and inspiring our little ones to dive into wherever their interests and curiosity take them! A love of literacy and learning is something to establish early on in children and continue to support the changes and new directions as they grow. Spend time reading to your children every single day, it is truly one of the greatest gifts you can give them.
The Midnight Club (published in 1988) is the first book that I have read by James Patterson, following months of nagging from a colleague of mine.. I’m glad to say that I was not disappointed.
Are you from The Midnight Club?
Alexandre St.-Germain is a psychotic, sadistic crime lord who finds himself asking this question whilst seconds from his violent death. John Stefanovitch, a New York cop who has a devastating history with Germain, attends the scene and begins an investigation into the death of his nemesis.
Little does he know that he is delving into the world of organised crime, of obscene world domination, control and morally corrupt ways of earning money.. the world of The Midnight Club.
James Patterson has definitely become my new go to author. Short, snappy chapters keep the story flowing with plenty of opportunity to digest the twists and turns that occur throughout. A great read for any fan of gritty crime.

My writing space today. It’s messy and cluttered and not at all like I usually keep things. But today, I’m realizing a few things that I firmly believe in:
One. I firmly believe in the revising process. And I believe in doing it way more than one time. And I believe in doing it after you’ve taken some time to let your work breathe. .
Two. I firmly believe in colorful pens and giant sticky notes. They make work that can be so frustrating but so rewarding at the same time feel like play. And giant sticky notes give so much room for inspiration and imagination and improvement.
And three. I firmly believe in rereading books that make your heart sing. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is a book I read years ago and remember loving. So now, I’m reminding myself of what makes a book so good that someone would pick it up again, re-exist in the world between the pages, take time away from discovering a new favorite. .
What are you reading and writing today?

Big Size Surprise by Agnese Baruzzi
Bright fun illustrations and fold out pages of big vehicles! My toddler loves this book! I had it in the car with us and it got us all the way home. Usually he flips through a book and tosses it on the floor. I was shocked to find this one kept his attention for so long! Now we need to find all of our vehicles around the house and see what we have that could match the big surprises! I think we have everything but a submarine!
I highly recommend this book for toddlers! And the pages are durable for the rough and tumble ones! Yay for fun board books!

due out Aug. 21 @chroniclebooks
DUN DUN DUN… a visit to THE DENTIST is new and scary for kids, so naturally it’s the subject of many books for kids. Gomi’s witty take on the subject is a scenario in which neither patient nor doctor is pleased.
Crocodile doesn’t really want to see Dentist… Dentist doesn’t really want see Crocodile. Each sentiment uttered by Crocodile is repeated verbatim by Dentist.
The repetition is accompanied by Gomi’s classic illustrations (perhaps you recognize them from Everyone Poops 💩!?). The illustrations are deceptively simple and age appropriate - but the color palate is too dark and bland. Regardless, a crocodile at the dentist office will have kids laughing!
The dental hygiene moral is useful for parents or teachers reading to their kids: The book ends with the ubiquitous reminder to brush one’s teeth. A sign for the dental office (pictured on the copyright page and back of the dust jacket) has a rotten tooth on it, as a visual reminder to take care 😬!
Personal favorite: The rich blue endpapers that are covered in vibrant pink toothbrushes! 🔹💓🔹 Suitable for ages 3-8.
for the review copy of this book! All opinions are my own.

Think ??? The people I will meet during the day what are they interested in!
It would only take a few moments to research any subject and you have a sure fire way to open a conversation.
