Struggling with autoimmune disease? Love someone who is?
I remember being diagnosed with RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and Hashimotos Disease in my mid-twenties and being SO EXHAUSTED and in pain that it was really, REALLY difficult just to manage normal, everyday tasks.
I was 26 years old and I woke up every morning feeling like I hadn't even slept 5 seconds. I couldn't open a water bottle or tie shoes!!! Turning the key in the ignition of my car brought me to tears because it was so painful.
Six years in to both miserable diseases, I decided enough was enough!
My doctors told me that food didn't matter. They said to just keep taking my meds. They said I was tired because I had 3 small kids.
Seriously? Other people, who were OLDER than me, with 3 small kids could go to the grocery store, and the park, and out to dinner with friends . . . ALL IN THE SAME DAY!
Me? No way. That sounded like a dream life and I definitely didn’t feel like a strong woman in those days!
So when I started to learn about nutrition (12 years ago), and food began to CHANGE MY LIFE (today I'm completely healed), I knew I had to tell other people that nutrition (combined with a few other puzzle pieces) WORKS!
It's not sexy, I know. But neither is not being able to walk or run or dance!
If you're feeling lost, confused and angry at your body - then this simple "What to Eat" Cheat Sheet is something I created just for YOU!!! I want you to know that you were designed to heal, and while the process might mean changes and it might take time - it will be SO WORTH IT!
Grab the cheat sheet at the link in my bio and start your journey to feeling amazing again, today!

So! That time during my race when I experienced recurring symptoms, I kinda felt like this! AND I had to think, “what was going on at that time?” 🤔
I wasn’t getting enough sleep, I was starting a business, I was stressed & overwhelmed ( recovering perfectionist) AND I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. ALL makes sense now! It didn’t then. I am learning, these factors were a threat to me! Subconsciously my body knew this and the output was pain...back pain & tingling/numbness of my left leg. 🤦🏼♀️
Over the next few days, look for ways that your body is telling you something is going on. Question the pain? Question the why!
My green goddess soup: 1/2 brown onion olive oil celery broccoli can rinsed white beans dried chicken stock. Cheap healthy and once the chopping is done - quick. My pal Loretta teaches soup classes and she said the trick is to keep turning the veg through the olive oil and only add the water at the end - it brings out the flavour. She doesn’t even use stock. I use a hand held blender to whizz it up, easier and safer than decanting into a blender, particularly if you have sore knuckles and wrists. . #psoriaticarthritis #psoriaticarthritisdiet #healthyeating
Does your chronic illness hold you back from saying yes to new adventures? 🖐
Mine used to. For close to a decade I dreaded the thought of traveling to new places. Even locations I was familiar with terrified me. I feared the climate. I worried that I wouldn't have the energy or strength to pack or travel to my destination. Wondering if I'd be able to do what I planned or if I'd be stuck in bed made me anxious. And it depressed me to think about how many days or weeks it would take my body to recover. 👇
The problem was that I was preparing and going about my adventures the same way I did before becoming chronically ill. Through the years I've made a lot of changes to how I plan for trips, what I bring along, and got real when it came to my expectations.
See the link in my bio for my travel tips and get ready to say YES to adventure!

3 weeks today since going back on antidepressants for panic attacks and health and social anxiety. The first week I felt horrendous, BUT the clouds are starting to disappear now and feeling much better. Spent so long trying to manage this on my own and not go back on medications, but with how I feel now I am happy I caved in. Antidepressants are a medication, but they should not come with a stigma of being bad or a way of running away from the original problem like many people state. Just like a vitamin deficiency, anxiety & depression can be a result of lacking something your body is not dispensing. I have also found out I get to see a new consultant next month for a second opinion and he is best in the area. Hopefully things are starting to go in the right direction again.

Life can be hard enough without letting people add stress to it.
I come in to 2018 with no friends. But a stronger respect for my family and myself.
I'm happy to live this life alone, as long as I'm living it.
I was woken up by my hands aching and stitching at 2:30am this morning. God knows how long it was happening before that. I couldn't move my hands at all, or hold my phone.
I took this video at 9:00am when it completely left my left hand and had died down in my right hand.
