with a fun story 😊 Left: 2004 (age 23), about 120 pounds- a yo-yo dieting cardio queen. Right: Two days ago (age 37), around 123 pounds- a powerlifter who does minimal cardio, food tracking and dieting.
Here’s the fun story- I didn’t learn how to swim until I was 22. I had just finished college and I wanted to be more athletic- living in Boulder, the natural thing to do was triathlons 🙄. However, I couldn’t swim- not a single lap. BUT, I had just been introduced to @pete_j_mohr
(the handsome man I’m standing with) and HE did triathlons...so, how did I win Pete over? I told him that I was training for a triathlon 😎 🤦🏻♀️ So, I signed up for adult swim lessons and learned how to swim at my local rec center. Pete and I competed in several triathlons together before our first son was born in 2008. Those were fun times. 💕
There are many takeaways here- the crazy shit that we do to attract a partner, how it’s never too late to try something new, the virtues of lifting versus cardio, etc. But, the most important takeaway is this- a visible transformation is only a symptom of the transformation that is not seen. The young woman on the left was burying a lot of pain and letting it hold her back- staying busy, but not making progress. The woman on the right is unburying the source of that pain and “letting shit go.” The woman on the right is unstoppable 🧚🏼♀️✨🦄✨
