So I decided to start #80dayobsession tomorrow! I printed everything off and put this notebook together. I ordered my resistance bands and sliders from amazon, so they should arrive either Monday or Tuesday. I heard so many good things about this program and a friend in particular just lost 40 pounds and so many inches while following it. A lot of people ask if I bought a challenge pack from @beachbody , I didn’t. But I do have #beachbodyondemand where I have access to all the workouts and the programs online. I have high hopes for this attempt. I know I’ll be praying specifically for help to overcome temptation, weakness, mental fatigue, and confidence to move forward tonight. Do you struggle making good choices with your nutrition? I don’t know why I’m always so surprised when I travel about how hard it is to find healthy food. It’s such a reminder about how it makes sense that we struggle with good nutrition and obesity in this country. I was reflecting back to the unhealthy choices I used to make before I started my health and fitness journey 3 years ago and I was 4 sizes bigger than I am now. Nobody wants to be overweight. Nobody wants to be unhealthy and tired. Nobody wants to be deprived of the things they like. I wasn’t as healthy as I am now, because I was uninformed about food. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I used to eat a pointless breakfast that wasn’t setting up to start my day with the fuel I needed. I’d skip lunch. I’d eat unhealthy snacks. I’d think a late afternoon drive-through was a good option. I would be ravenous when I got home from work and continue to make unhealthy choices I didn’t even realize weren’t the healthiest options. Fast forward to now and while I definitely enjoy treats while traveling, and even may have indulged in some chocolate super foods protein waffles when I got home. Tonight is back on track with zoodles and shrimp. I had no idea there were such amazing health and nutrition resources available to me and how much I would learn and grow. Traveling is hard sometimes! This sounded like a great option on the menu - blackened catfish, spinach, bacon, creamed corn, and a side of roasted brussel sprouts. It was delicious, but I'm sure I'm over on fat - everything seemed oily! And the brussels had some sort of sweet glaze on them. Sigh. Tomorrow is a new day and I'm giving myself peace doing the best I can while traveling! I did head to the grocery store upon arrival to stock up on fruit, veg, and healthy protein to substitute the conference lunch options (which sounds pretty limited). It’s your Friday morning reminder that there’s no such thing as good calories and bad calories, they’re just calories. . Some foods have more nutrients (like fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals) than others but that doesn’t make them good or bad or give them any moral value. . That makes them “energy dense” (more calories than nutrients) or “nutrient dense” (more nutrients for less calories), and that sure doesn’t make you bad or good depending on which one you eat. . Eating cherries 🍒 and string cheese doesn’t make you any “better” than if you ate the same number of calories in goldfish crackers. . Your overall health is determined by what you do MOST of the time, not ALL of the time. Health is not black and white or all or nothing. . Should you eat nutrient dense food most of the time, of course! But it’s about finding that balance between the nutrient dense food (fruit, veggies, whole grains, beans etc.) that you like and still allowing yourself to have “fun” food without guilt or restriction. . So let’s remove a bit of stress around food and see calories for what they are, a unit of energy. If you’re listening to your body you’ll know which foods to eat and when. Meal planning/prep has been lacking BIGTIME in my life. • I’m not sure how I fell off the wagon, but it’s been a couple of weeks since I did a weekly meal prep, and my guts/energy is certainly showing it 😩 • This took me literally 90 minutes from start to finish and now I have healthy lunches for the week! • You can pack each days lunch up ahead of time in individual containers, or you can do what I do and put everything in larger containers and do it buffet style each night! First step in any goal is CONSISTENCY! Especially when it comes to your food. Jumping into drastic diet changes is just setting up for failure. 1. It’s usually not sustainable over time. 2. Guess what I'm making! After a weekend of struggling to stay on point with my eating I am jumping back in the nutrition pool by meal prepping. I am far from perfect and thats ok. Some people struggle with exercises but the hardest part is changing your mind and staying committed to the food. If you can stay consistent with all three then you will be golden and the results will happen. Your body wont go where the mind wont. I told myself I am never going back to that person who was 240 plus pounds and I meant it. I'm challenging myself to push past my comfort zone and get back on track. Im working on my consistency. The beauty of the journey are the hills and valleys. No comparisons point blank period. What I struggle with may not be your struggle. But we all have struggles we all have stressors that trigger us. The world knows when we are making changes in our lives and things appear to test our strength. Surround yourself with people that can encourage you past your weak moments. Even if you fall get up dust yourself off and keep pushing. Its your life you have to live it. You have to be happy. Its about you and no one else when it comes to what makes your health and what makes you happy. So many wonderful places in Indy on my Coach Summit trip ✨ It was my first time ever in Indy and I was so excited and grateful to see all the vegan options everywhere compared to my city where its near impossible. Even my hotel had a vegan breakfast option 👏🏼 this balsamic mushroom taco and the grapefruit fizzy I had at nada was one of my favorites!
. I loved life before I began my health journey and I love life now!😘 The difference is I am stronger physically, developed strength of mind and learned to value what is truly important. I loved myself and my life enough to realize my health was suffering and I needed to take positive action. I used positive reinforcement instead of negativity to motivate me on my journey. .
