Jamieson Ranch Vineyards Whiplash California Red Wine 2014, California
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity nose with black currants, black plums, black cherries, vanilla, light vegetables, oak, licorice, earth, leather, black pepper, spices and bitter herbs.
Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, plums, sweet strawberries, blueberries, vanilla, spices, cloves, leather, oak, chocolates, coffee, bitter herbs, vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with soft, round tannins and tangy cranberries.
The California Red Blend is drinking nicely now. Very soft and easy drinking. Well-balanced with mild complexity.
By now, the high alcohol is not noticeable anymore. Good for parties a good everyday drinker. Good by itself or with food. Not very sophisticated, but enjoyable nonetheless.
I paired it with a cheese plate with fruits and crackers.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
87 Points. $14.
"If your mind is divine / Then you'll see this kind when they try and stalk / So I'm the alienated alien sailing in the dark"
Yes, I bought this for the extremely wtf label. YES it was also extremely worth it. A bargain buy at the supermarket, and as it turns out a super fruity, rich, smooth drinker which happens to be unexpected levels of delicious (my "buying based on the label design" skills have been very off recently, so this renewed my faith). Swipe for the rest of the label...props to the good people at @oddlotwines
for making the whole wine experience delightful.
But that hasn't been the biggest mindfuck of the week, because this highly awesome @bishychulo
track started off with a sample from Emperor's New Groove, and David Spade isn't exactly what I tend to be looking for from a New Release playlist. You know I kept listening though...because odd always leads to the best shit. (Swipe all the way for the Spotify link)
