Cardio & abs done but my oh my it was a STRUGGLE!! Don’t get me wrong @bodyloveapp
work outs ALWAYS challenge me and so they should!! Or I would lose interest! But today was different, I felt weak, out of breath so quickly, my stomach felt bad, everything was off and why? I haven’t been eating as much as I should. I have had severe anxiety this week that has affected my appetite and so my usual intake has halved and pretty much been reduced to oatmeal (porridge) and soups as I just couldn’t face meals. What an immense difference this has made and & I have to say I can’t imagine how in younger years I would work out on such a low calorie amount! #yikes
I didn’t do my usual HIIT cardio on treadmill I just took it easier as abs was so challenging but still felt shaky, weak and so so hungry after. And I had eaten a substantial breakfast this morning! So I guess the message for me is....EAT!!! I need to fuel my body for it to perform the way I want it to!! Without it I feel dreadful. So I have had a protein shake! Am now going to make an egg and avocado scramble with some wholemeal toast 😋 husband is feeling so much better which means anxiety has lowered some what & boy that appetite has returned with a-vengeance!!!! 🍽💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 #BodyLove #week8 #cardio

So I got a bit excited at the temps finally dropping at night and thought - yeah it’s soup time 😂 but seriously I can eat soup anytime of the the year..... especially this version of Pumpkin, Carrot & Green Curry w fried black rice cakes & coriander 🙏 The black rice cakes just add another depth to this & it’s so simple & quick!
1/2 large pumpkin +3/4carrots + 1 L vege stock+ can organic coconut milk+ 2 kaffir lime leaves+ 2 TBL vegan green curry paste. Put all of it in a pot and simmer for 1/2 hr then remove leaves & blitz. Black rice cakes - 1 C black rice, cook using evaporation method then leave to cool. Then with lightly oiled hands, form into thin square cakes and pan fry lightly in HOT plant based oil. Serve w coconut yoghurt & coriander. 😊 .

Really paying attention and trying to honor my feelings - emotionally & physically.
Months ago the only speed I knew was 100 mph and slowing down made me restless. I was giving everything I had to others and leaving just scraps of myself for those who needed me the most.
Now? I'm busy if I want or really need to be. I sit down to read or rest if my body tells me it's time (like yesterday!) Sometimes I want to photograph and show you everything I'm eating, and other times I just want to eat without even thinking about it.
I finally read the last pages of Present Over Perfect yesterday and feel like I want to start it at the beginning. That book really had a strong impact on me. I was about to start Body Kindness, but something told me to put it down. May be too much right now.
I think I'll go with Spirit Junkie instead 🦄

Celebrating Nyepi “Day of Silence” here in Bali. A non voluntary day for meditation, introspection, self reflection and quiet contemplation. At first I found the non voluntary part a bit much, but I see the point. It’s amazing how this entire island goes dark, silent and off the radar for 24hours~ no entertainment, no one on the streets, everything is closed, everyone at home enjoying family time, all I hear is birds and the occasional dog bark. We are loving it. Started my day with yoga as always, did some self reflection, lots of writing, made lunch, had a mini at-home spa day, meditation and will watch movies tonight.

Homemade chicken stock 🍃
I absolutely adore the wonderful aroma of a large pot of chicken stock simmering away. Not only does it smell so good, it's wonderfully nourishing and healing for the gut too. It's packed with vitamins and minerals and as a rich source of collagen it can help to dampen down inflammation within the digestive system, our joints and skin.
Here I've got the basics of carrots, onions, celery, leeks, garlic cloves, bay leaf, a sprig of thyme, a little rock salt, black peppercorns, a tbsp of apple cider vinegar and water....then of course the chicken carcass itself (not photographed). Cooked as a large batch, after several hours of simmering it will be ready to store in little batches in the freezer for when needed.
Our gut health is so important to our overall health. If the gut isnt a happy place then its likely to impact on other body systems. Did you know that up to 70% of our immune cells reside in the gut. When we think of all the many things the gut has to endure from antibiotics, alcohol, every day painkillers, unknown foods that we may be sensitive to, bacteria that we inadvertently consume, processed and packaged foods, sugar, then its easy to see how these may impact on our immune system. Its vital that we keep the gut as happy as we can....even chronic stress and poor sleep can have an impact.
