✨IDENTITY IS AN ILLUSION✨ My gal pals and I went to the Frank Oz directed and Neil Patrick Harris produced, “In & Of Itself” (@inandofitself ) without much knowledge of what we were about to see...and WOW. What an unforgettable experience it was! It was like a complete mindf*ck that left you emotional, in awe and in thought, and at the same time, you weren’t really sure what you just saw, but knew it was extraordinary. What I do know is that it has me continuously contemplating and feeling everything “I AM” and will continue to do so for a very long time. A MUST-SEE! Derek DelGaudio is a revolutionary genius who has dissected our conceptions of magic and put them back together, redefined.
I might have made a huge mistake watching Gone Girl just a day after finishing the brilliant novel by Gillian Flynn. With all the plot twists fresh in my memory, it was hard to decide how well those "WTF moments" worked out. Judging from my reaction to the novel though, I'm pretty sure I would have been really impressed by the plot. It was a hard novel to adapt in my opinion because of the constant shift of time and perspective as well as the unreliability of the narrator. I think the film did well for the most part keeping this narrative style, but I do find the change of perspective a bit too frequent. It worked well in the novel but for the film, I felt like it lacked continuity. At times it felt like the momentum of the main plotline was interrupted. Obviously there were so many content to get to and there were things that had to be kept a secret so I'm not sure if there was a better way. Rosamund Pike gave a great performance as Amy the mastermind. The physical and personality transformation she showed and her portrayal of the psychopathic calmness her character had was incredible. Ben Affleck also did good in a very well-casted role. Other technical aspects were all solid but nothing really stood out for me. I really think I would have liked this plot driven film a lot more had I seen it before the novel. The story was so carefully and smartly designed that I recommend everyone to check it out if you haven't.
