I spent the early morning hours running with new faces... don’t get me wrong these peeps are not new to the trails, just new to me. It was so refreshing to hear their stories of normal life balance and incredible mountain crushing. I’m grateful.
Happy hump day 🐪 have you had a second to give yourself some grace this week?? If not, you should probably do that now. Or, if you already have... give yourself some more grace!! Yesterday in yoga, I dedicated that one hour to myself. Typically, when I do yoga... I think of one person I am grateful for and I dedicate that hour of practice to that person. But, rarely do I ever take time to be grateful for ME! Instead, I spend 90% of the time being too hard on myself and beating myself up for falling short in a workout, in being loving to Anthony, in being a good friend, a good daughter, a good sister, etc. So, yesterday, I took that hour of my practice to give myself and my body grace. To thank my body for all that it has allowed me to do and is still allowing me to do. Although I am not where I was in my level of fitness, I am learning to be thankful for what my body is allowing me to do right now. While, it isn’t much.. it’s something. We put our bodies through so much: work, stress, training (if you train), etc. yet, we never really take the time to thank our body! (At least I don’t.. if you do - I applaud you 😝) if we don’t show our bodies appreciation for what they have done, are doing, or will do, then how can we expect them to show us what they CAN do?! #humpday #iloverunning #radrabbit #runinrabbit #morningrun #monitorthebeat #womenrunners #revolve #hawaii

Happy hump day! 🎉 Spending this week focusing on some recovery after my massive run on Friday, but still fantasising about being in the Lake District instead of being at work! 😴 At least I know when my next trip up there is coming, and also getting to plan a trip to Copenhagen! Whelp, that didn’t go according to plan. I didn’t get far on my run today when I turned around and headed home because my sciatica was so painful I was limping 👎At this point, running is causing more pain and stress than good and after talking with my doctor yesterday she recommended to back off. She didn’t tell me to stop unless I want to but to be extremely careful with the heat • Baby Nichols will be here in 25 days and going forward I may attempt a walk/run a few days a week just to remain active till he arrives. But I’m thinking my 4-5 mile non-stop runs are over till after baby 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ll just do the best I can now and run what I can and walk when I need a break. Either way I’m still moving forward and still staying active and healthy for my little man 💙 the countdown is on!! 36 weeks 3 days pregnant
3 mile run and bike ride this morning. We went to the trail by our house for a change of scenery and because we got out later than usual and t is shadier on the trail. It was another hot and humid run but I kept my average pace at 9:22. Strength day today at @otfwestomaha 💪🏻 I need to work hills, so it felt good to get that done! I was going to be done today but ran into @homewiththeboys and she was headed home to run 4 more miles, so I decided to go home and run 2 more, to end my day at 5 total! So glad I did! W5D3 I feel you Jack... that’s exactly how I felt after I finished this workout. Blah.. tough interval workout today! 6x800 in 99%humidity and 89degree heat. S T I C K Y is the only word I have to describe this! I did 3x800 with the stroller and 3x800 without the stroller. Surprisingly the ones with the stroller weren’t that bad! I have always been afraid to incorporate speed days with the stroller but I was pleasnelty surprised to see how easy I could maintain threshold while pushing Jack. Not too shabby! After those 3 things fell apart..🙈 my times weren’t where I wanted them.. 30sec off pace😑😑 I’ll try again this weekend when I have another chance. It’s been a tough week for me hitting times and finding motivation but the fatigue is slowly starting to get better! I also have a babysitter all day today, whattt??? My top skills on my resume make me very important, a team player, and key component to your diet. I am loaded with tons of the good stuff, ya' know, like… Vitamin C: Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that is important for the immune system and skin health. Manganese: This trace element is important for many processes in your body. Folate (B9): One of the B-vitamins, important for normal tissue growth and cell function. Particularly important for pregnant women and the elderly. Potassium: A mineral that is involved in many essential body functions, such as regulating blood pressure. Side note- most Americans fail everyday to reach their needed potassium level, but I can help! I also contain iron, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin B6, vitamin K and vitamin E. I feel that this helps me develop lighter and quicker feet while running. I’m all about doing whatever it takes to make running feel easier!! But, remember to breathe!! POST TRAINING and RACING WEIGHT GAIN🏃🏼‍♀️ yes it’s a thing and yes I’m going there today with this post. I raced a lot in June and there was some room for a little weight gain. Not a lot, don’t get me wrong, I know I’m not fat and don’t need to “lose weight” because I’m an athlete and I’ll chose racing and finish lines over a very strict diet. That’s my personal choice and I love to race. With that said, gaining weight when you race or train can totally happen and though it’s small, it can be frustrating with all the work you put into it! Right!? Sometimes we feel the need to reward that post 20 mile run with “I can eat whatever I want today” mentality. I know I have before! . . I don’t talk a lot about weight and eating tips and diets. I hate the word diet. I try to include here foods I like, products I use daily to stay on track that I love and believe in (like @idealfit ) and just all around overall healthy eating as a lifestyle, which includes treats! I like to workout, I like to run/tri, yoga/pilates, lifting and anything to stay active. But guess what? I also love food! 🙌🏻 I try to fuel my body right and eat healthy most of the time but will indulge too! I love ice cream and popcorn and pizza and all the good/bad food 😉 but those foods are not BAD for you in moderation. . . I don’t own a scale but had to be weighed for a recent doctors appt. and saw that my weight was up 5 pounds despite trying to eat healthy. I know 5 pounds is not a lot, but I felt it too! It can play a mental game with your head! . . So this summer I’m trying to be better about eating a well balanced diet. I’m not training for a full Ironman for the first time in 2 years and can’t eat whatever I want. (😉 which I can’t and shouldn’t even full Ironman training.) I don’t count macros daily anymore but that helps me get back on track when I need it. . . My last thoughts: if you are training for a marathon or any race and your weight goes up and down a little, it will be ok! Your body has just done something amazing and don’t get hung up on the number but how you feel! Stay active and eat right, enjoy life and the rest will take care of itself! ❤️ #BeHealthy

8 EZ miles today after not feeling well yesterday. I went to bed on Monday night with a scratchy throat and woke up Tuesday with a low grade fever and achy. I had an optional 5 miles on the schedule yesterday, it I chose to not run them and rest instead. Good thing because I woke up today feeling much better. I got out the door around 7, so the last 2 miles were a bit slower because it got HOT. Once the sun is fully up here, it’s basically a sauna. I decided against coffee this morning and took my @beachbody Energize powder instead. My diet the last 2 days has consisted of hot dogs (yes plural), cookie cake, donuts, hamburger, fries & root beer (I NEVER drink soda) more cookie cake and pizza. I went to bed last night feeling physically awful. My body, mostly my stomach, was not happy with my food choices. That carried over into my workout this morning, leaving me feeling very sluggish and blah, but I pushed through and got in my 3 mile run and some lower body strength training. The temp is supposed to reach 105 today so the treadmill was a no brainer. I normally live by the everything in moderation rule, but there was no moderation happening the last 2 days. It was a good reminder of why I don’t eat like that on a regular basis. My body needs & deserves better fuel to function at its best. I’m craving my protein shake and not the leftover birthday donuts (see stories) which is a good sign! I find it very interesting that my knee hurt more this morning than it has in a while and the only thing I did different was eat poorly. Crazy how much of an affect food has on our entire body!
Some big things are happening! This weekend I take on my first triathlon and in 5 weeks, I’ll be running the 2nd race of the @uamtnrunning series! ⛰ I’ll be taking on the 25K distance at @killlingtonmtn on August 25th!!! 😍 . . Last year I fell in love with mountain running when I visited @coppermtn ! Running at elevations like that were a slap in this sea level runner’s face!!!! 😩 I’m hoping that my marathon heat training this summer will help me with the obstacles, elevation and altitude I’ll face in Vermont! 👍🏻 . .

NEW SHOE FEELZ... 8km/5mile @ 3:53/6:14 pace HR 148 16km/10miles total mileage @ 4:18/6:55 ....👟👟👟 Finally got to try out my new shoes which I got a week ago. Adidas Australia was clearing out the #adizerosub2 as obviously not enough fast marathon runners down under? (big thanks to @haylz_newman for the heads up on this. They were a bargain at half price as rather expensive at full retail price). . Still not feeling the greatest today but had to push the effort to do justice to these shoes. They are legit a fast running shoe. Ultra light, responsive and flat. They feel best when you are turning over your feet. They feel average and quite hard actually when running slow. Definitely made me run a little bit faster today so big thumbs up from me, I like a...very much!

Um. Well. Hey guys. It’s me. . I’m pretty blown away by everything. If you watch my stories, you haven’t seen a lot of me lately. Don’t worry. I’m still here. This all kind of blew up at once, in the best way possible. I’m really grateful to be included in this no filter movement. It’s certainly not the first time it’s occurred, but more and more I’m noticing blurred, shiny faces and it’s frustrating. We’re athletes. Show that tomato face with pride. Wear those bags under your eyes (I do — my boss actually asked me if I had a black eye last week 😂 haha and I know he’ll see this. 😜) We’re human beings too. We’re gonna have wrinkles. Blemishes. Fat rolls. I struggle on the daily. But damn I am so EXHAUSTED trying to look and be perfect, aren’t you? . Anywho. I ran today: 3 miles up, 10x2 min on, 1 min off averaging 6:35 pace! 2 miles down to total 9.29 miles at 7:30 pace. . Cheers fam 🔥♥️

Today was a rest day but it’s my birthday and I’ll run if I want to. Had to run the age. I through in a decimal because I’m old. I did it in km’s because I’m smart 😂 🤓 — Since it was a short run, and he was already up, loaded up the favourite and brought him with me. He loved every second of it 🙌🙌 — Now I know you’re all still wondering what to get me.
