So. I'm out of town, helping out a sick family member. She's in a rehab facility, and in good hands, but those places can be kind of a bummer. But! The Royals ST games were on TV all weekend long, and that helped a lot. Baseball is the best medicine.

New Orleans Zephyrs alternate hat circa 1998. Originally the Denver Zephyrs (named for a passenger train that operated from 1936-1973) the team relocated to Nola in 1993. This hat features a large semiaquatic rodent known as a Coypu or Nutria, that inhabits coastal marshes, inland swamps, and other wetland areas. It reproduces quickly and feeds on the base of the above-ground stems of plants, and often dig through the organic soil for roots to eat. Desire for it's fur led to the development of nutria fur farms in the late 19th century. However, as demand for nutria fur declined the farms closed down and many released their stock into the wild. A mature nutria weighs about 12lbs and consumes about 25% of its body weight daily, destroying wetlands and the habitats of indigenous species. Because of this, bounties have been placed on nutria as early as 1958. Louisiana loses an area of wetlands about the size of a football field every hour. The nutria problem became so serious that Sheriff Harry Lee of Jefferson Parish deployed SWAT sharpshooters against the animals.
The team mascots are Boudreaux D. Nutria and his wife Clotile.
