“Mental Health conditions do not discriminate based on race, color, gender or identity. Anyone can experience the challenges of Mental Illness regardless of their background. Historically, communities of color experience unique and considerable challenges accessing mental health services we need to work together to change this dynamic.
Unfortunately, mental health and wellness is not something frequently discussed in communities of color as there is a serious stigma surrounding the issue. This sigma prevents many people from seeking the help they need so instead they stay silent and in some cases take their own lives. Mental illness not only affects the person suffering with the disease but the lives of friends and family who love them. There is nothing shameful about owning your mental health. Compassion, empathy, and understanding is exactly what we need to help spread the cure!”

Domenico is not only one of the few remaining speakers of Greko in Calabria, but he is passionate about Greko poetry. If you swipe right, you can see him reciting Greko poems from his village in the mountains of the Aspromonte region of Calabria.

Ok, let's talk. Yesterday was a big day for our son, and for us as parents. He got his permit and also a checking account with a debit card at our local credit union, and sat him with the loan officer and she explained to him and showed him all about online banking and how to use his account and keep track of everything. Although we opened a savings account for him years ago, now he is going to have a checking account and the responsibility of keeping track of his own money. It's important to us that he grows up understanding money and this system better than we ever did. Any chance we can, (especially on car rides, because he cannot escape us) we turn on youtube, podcasts or just try to talk to him about money, credit, trade schools vs colleges, student loan debt (I'm especially salty in this area, because it's such a messed up system), entrepreneurship and all sorts of things. We show him, talk to him about and listen to youtube's about young minority men doing amazing things, and that are phenomenal entrepreneurs- without college degrees, with college degrees, athletes, and even some who have dropped out early from school that have gone on to succeed in life and changed others lives. Mr and I both met at university. Neither finished. We both ended up going back to differnet types of trade schools. We are both successful entrepreneurs. We just want for him to know that we support him whatever he decides, and that there are many paths of success because YOU define that for yourself. While we are aware he is just now 15 and at 15 your main priorities are a little different- we started having these important conversations more and more. It's like throwing spaghetti up against the wall, some will stick, most will fall off- but he'll remember some of it. Anyways, theres a line, we cross it alot (well mostly I do, Mr is alot more patient with him and really great at letting him be)... but we both agree on one thing, we want what every parent wants, for our children to do and be better. I am 36 and Jamie is 40. If our son Jamien could even begin to grasp at 15 what we are just figuring out, and puts him ahead of where we are, than that's all we want for him.
The qualities and finishes of our garments are of the highest quality. Only by doing things well can you boast of a brand!
NATIONAL | REGIONAL | Assam likely to be affected as MHA relaxes LTV procedure for minorities from neighboring countries
Details: At a time when Assam is being rocked with protest against controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the Centre’s decision to extend religiously prosecuted Bangla , Pak national’s staying terms in India and relaxes VISA procedures for prosecuted minorities would likely to trigger further protests in Assam
Assam is divided over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill because it proscribes the deportation or imprisonment of Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan who entered India without valid documents before December 31, 2014.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that it will ease the process of obtaining long term visas (LTV) for minorities in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The plan, which reduces the time limit for security clearance from 45 days to 21 days, will be valid for the ‘persecuted minorities’ of the mentioned countries.

The first 12 weeks of your pregnancy is considered the most important time during your entire pregnancy process. •
Within the first 3 months, your body is going through many changes to make room for the development of your baby. During this time, your hormones are changing consistently throughout the day to help your body provide your baby with what it needs to be fully formed by the end of the 12 weeks. •
That’s right, fully formed. All it’s limbs and organs are developed, including the heart and brain, by the end of the 12 week period.
During this time, it is normal to feel bloated, nauseous, more tired than usual, or experience food cravings that you never experienced before. This is all a part of the growth and development process. •
Take your time. Give yourself more time during the morning to prepare for the day. Drink plenty of water, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and go for a brisk walk each day. •
If you are experiencing any changes that feel uncomfortable, unusual, or just leave you with questions, do not hesitate to consult your medical provider for advice.

This is definitely one of my favorite portraits I’ve taken because of the kindness that Pietro Romeo showed me when I visited his home in Bova Superiore back in April 2017. I will even go as far to say that you can feel how kind he is through this photo. We were invited into his home for a cup of coffee and he shared about his background and some history of the region.
Pietro was once a postman from Bova who delivered mail by foot to the Greko-Calabrian villages in the Aspromonte Mountains for 48 years. From the village of Africo, to Bova, and all the way to Roccaforte del Greco, Pietro was known in this region for his job as the local postman. He is now 93-years-old.

“I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” and whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” -Steve Jobs (2005 Stanford Commencement Address) Today is the day. I have answered “No” for too many days in a row. I want to share stories and lessons so progress can be made for women like me in the workplace: minorities, introverts and plus size. Today is the day I stop being invisible. Come join me on this journey! #empoweringwomennow #introverts #minorities #plussize #stevejobsquote
