my nail AND MY TONGUE are pointing to some truths! SO LISTEN UP TO THEIR THOTS!
really though, drinking is cool but at the same thyme there is a huge stigma and weird ass knee jerk reaction towards folx who are straight edge or sober when we say “we don’t drink”. The uncomfortable reaction of assumed judgement, the “oh come on its just one drink!”, “well that’s just boring” or even the patronizing “oh you’ll stop that soon” is super duper influential towards the erasure (and also dialogue!) around the discussions of alcoholism, drug addiction and mental illness, and lowkey is a privilege to have those reactions in the first place. Usually there is a super duper personal reason as to why someone doesn’t drink, and it is not owed to you to have that be shared, so so so so SO keep that in mind when that is brought up for real! You never know what a person has gone through in their timeline, and compassion is always the best route for ANYTING! My fellow folx, ur decision is valid no matter what any one might try to project on you, and if you are ever put in a situation that makes you feel in the slightest bit uncomfortable you have EVERY REASON to leave. Those who are worth your thyme will respect your choices and accommodate and if they think it’s about them then honestly they probably also think a lot of other things are about them and they CAN LEAVE WITH THAT EGO MENTALITY. ( PS ALSO WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE GET SO PISSY ABOUT PEOPLE NOT DRINKING OR DOUNG DRUGS SERIOUSLY IT HAS NO EFFECT ON YOU QUITE HONESTLY IM INCREDIBLY BAFFLED TO THE CORE OF MY BEING).
This is such a practice for me. So easy to get swept away in doing, rather than being. Today I had the pleasure of driving out to Lake Arrowhead to meet with @sagewellnessctr
to check out the magical retreat space @arrowheadpines
On the drive there, I felt present enough to take in the gorgeous spring clouds, the incredible views, life sprouting up everywhere after the dormancy of winter. I felt like I was dragging my hand back to my own heart for the first time in a few weeks and it felt so sweet and necessary. How are you dragging your hand back to your own heart this weekend?
When you break through those barriers, your fears and your hurt that's when the good stuff happens. Take the leap. Face your fear. Your furure self will thank you for it. When did you last take a leap? .

A little Irish proverb for this St. Patrick's Day. Hoping luck is going your way today and this year 🍀🍀

I probably hear someone say “that’s my OCD” at least once a week. I don’t suffer from OCD but when I hear someone use the disorder in replace of perfectionism it makes my blood boil. OCD is a lifelong disorder that can take over someone’s entire life...be it compulsive behaviours adding hours to your morning routine, repetitive intrusive thoughts that never seem to stop, washing your hands until they are raw, refusing to leave the house, repetitive actions with intrusive consequences, etc. Tbh, I count my lucky stars that this is a disorder I never had to struggle with. The thought of continuous repetitive compulsive actions, and intrusive thoughts that can be violent, sexual, and completely opposite of your morals but they just don’t stop is terrifying. I look up to EVERY person who suffers from OCD. You are seriously amazing and I’m so proud of you. People with OCD don’t deserve the devaluing of their disorder. Education is necessary to stop this stigma. I challenge everyone to STOP 🛑 using OCD to describe perfectionism and if you hear someone who practices the verbal stigma of OCD - challenge them. Inform them. Let them know, it’s not ok.
I know it can be hard to confront people so here are a few example templates... “You shouldn’t use OCD in that context”
“Do you know OCD is actually a disorder?” “You mean perfectionism right?” “I’m sorry. I don’t know what you mean.” •

Self-improvement and learning are good and natural parts of human life. Growth itself is a universal human need. When it’s driven by Shame, however... that’s when it leads to a false self which is toxic. For the full podcast, click link in bio: https://www.davidtianphd.com/podcast/personas-feminism-anger/
My IG story isn’t all roses and fairy tales because that’s not real life, and I’m determined to keep encouraging not only our youth, but everyone, that your life can be as beautiful or ugly as you make it. I spent years and years and years thinking that once I had that “perfect model life” I always idolized, I would be happy. And then I realized that their lives aren’t perfect either.
I was diagnosed with bipolar I disorder (what used to be called manic depression) earlier this year and have been learning how to look at life and every experience I’ve ever had in an entirely new way. So many things that have happened in my past. Old memories I have. So many things make more sense now. And although I’ve been angry, frustrated, and felt like my brain has been lying to me my entire life, I’m really happy to say that the mood stabilizers I’m on are helping me in so many ways. Hey, I’m traveling right now, aren’t I?
I know—I just revealed that I have an actual ~diagnosed~ mental illness. A chemical imbalance in my brain. Wow the stigmaaaaa. But here’s the other thing: I don’t care if it makes you uncomfortable. Mental health NEEDS to be talked about.
Oh hey, family members: bipolar disorder is genetic. It’s on a spectrum. You might be suffering from it, too. Do you know how under-diagnosed bipolar disorder is? Did you know most people succumb to it and commit suicide or just dig themselves into the deepest of holes before they have a chance to get any help? They don’t leave that darkness.
So I’m talking about it. I’m going to keep talking about it. Just like my family speaks up about Down syndrome. Because awareness and education and mindfulness is key. Absolute key. Because it doesn’t matter if you LOOK different or if you LOOK normal: we all are battling are own battles. And still trying to make the most of it. And we ALL have something amazing to contribute to this world. Yeah, even you. YOU!
The secret to pure, true happiness in your life is to fill your cup until you can’t anymore. Fill it with all of the things that you enjoy and find yourself. Find what you’re about. What are you passionate about? (Con’t in comments...) 🦋...
Fitness used to be something I dreaded. Something I felt was a chore and something I didn’t think could actually make that much of a difference (I was in denial)! Fitness has become a part of me, something that makes me feel and look my best. Something that has improved my health, my mentality and my relationships with both food and my friends and family! It’s crazy how much your life changes when you simply take care of the ONE body you were given!

Rest is important for your mental health. Naps are great if you can! I try to get 8 hours of sleep a night, although, this can be a challenge if you suffer anxiety, and are overwhelmed with too many thoughts. I’ve found meditation to be very helpful, and practice this every night. There are plenty of great apps out there if you’re looking for ways to improve your sleep, and all around betterment. My favorite app is @insight
Check it out! You can also do quick 10 min meditation sessions in the morning to get you off to a great start. I highly recommend to everyone! 🙏#MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfCare #SelfLove #Meditation #InsightTimer #InfiniteCareAffair

- today is World Homeless Day
Across the globe there are more than 100 million homeless people, and in England over 4,000 people sleep rough on any given night, with hundreds of thousands more staying with friends or in temporary accommodation.
Living on the streets is unimaginably tough, dangerous, and isolating. You become a statistic, no longer part of society. It causes health problems, and affects wellbeing - perhaps it's no coincidence that today is also World Mental Health Day.
Think outside the (cardboard) box today - maybe buy the Big Issue? And support @sheltercharity
, and other homeless charities if you can.
