“Growth is painful.  Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere  you don't belong.” __ I have been reading this quote a lot lately because I have realized that although I am working “hard” it really has just been within my own comfort zone. I know that my best life requires a better self💪🏻. I need to grow into this man each day. I have been honestly disssapointed that I have been not been my strongest self lately. I felt stuck. But I know that I don’t have to be✨ __ Today marks the day that I move forward with full force to “step-up” to be a better me. I am going to tell myself that... 1)) I accept that I won’t always be motivated to make this change. That is will fade and that I must keep pushing👊🏻 2)) The more uncomfortable that I can get the better. More growth requires the most discomfort🙌🏻 __ I wanted to start off today with an insane workout. One that would probably leave me sore for a while (which I hate) 😤 but sometimes you just have to do it to prove yourself that you can take the pain and that sometimes you have to get out of your normal “comfort-zone” routine to really see what you are made of✨ __ I really need to see what I am made of 😔More than ever. ALT. DB CURLS:⁣⁣⁣⁣ One of my favorite bicep exercises! These are a must-save if you aren’t already incorporating them. I honestly used to hate doing these, but I have grown to really enjoy them. You can do them standing or seated. I warmed up with 17.5lbs. and am currently able to curl up to 20lbs. with correct form. Soon I’ll be able to curl 25’s!! Ya girl is getting stronger 🙌🏼 so happy with my current physique and how much stronger I am becoming.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ QUICK TIP: Keep the tension in your biceps by keeping your body fixed during your set; example: keep your core tight to help with stability and don’t use your shoulders to curl up! Starting my day with this awesome thing. Oh and my dog Evie.... 😂 anyways- had some fast food last night (emotional eating-party of one) and also didn’t get to drink all my water. Definitely feel the difference today. Overall week 1 weight loss -3.5 lbs. gained .5 back last night due to increased sodium and lack of water. But that’ll go back down tomorrow. Start your day with 16oz water. Drink 16 more before each meal and snack and you’ll be over or close to half your daily water goal. Easy trick. Worth the effort. It’s not official yet but idc it feels like SUMMER is finally here!🌻 . This weekend was filled with all sorts of summer 🤸🏼‍♀️activities; It was a great few days spent doing what I love, close to home. . One thing me and my fiancé talked about that got me thinking about that #balancedlife is taking a whole week off from work and just staying home, not going anywhere. . Don’t get me wrong, this would be SOO nice and who knows, maybe we’ll do it one of these days. BUT it also made me want to check in with myself about how I frame my mind 🤔around work and time off. . I read an article a while ago that reflected on how people are happiest when they make sure to find “vacation-like” moments🏖 in every day life, and keep some every day life routines and mindsets even while on vacation. . What this does is it prevents you from always longing for another vacation, and dreading returning to work when you actually are on vacation. It also lets you enjoy both (regular time and vacation time) more fully. . Real world example: When on vacation, I still try to keep with my workout routine and I check email periodically. When not on vacation, I plan little things to look forward to both in my work day and at home, such as dates with friends, treating myself to a pedicure, getting an extra ☕️in the afternoon, etc. . It all helps me enjoy and appreciate the everyday grind while also truly getting everything I can out of vacation and time off when it does come around🌞 . I get it, this is easier said than done. But trust me, there are people out there who genuinely care for and about you. Whether it’s a family member, your best friend, a significant other or a complete stranger. . I can speak on this myself. For me, learning to express myself and my emotions def helped me learn to communicate with not only others, but myself as well. I’ve always “felt” things but wasn’t always sure how to express them. Maybe out of fear of judgement or being misunderstood. The thing is this, is hard to be understood if you don’t express yourself, it’s a catch-22. . Now look, let’s be real, we’ve ALL been through some shit in our lives, that doesn’t mean we have to stay guarded forever. Being vulnerable and opening up to people you feel you can trust is a good thing. . I honestly feel the more you talk about how you feel, the better you start to feel, whether it’s good or bad. Take steps into learning to express yourself with people who care for you and you care about. It makes a difference. . Hope everyone has a great week!🙏🏽
Just wishing I could start every morning with this mermaid smoothie in a pineapple😭 . I’m not real comfortable in my body right now. But I’ve accepted that my body might be holding on to extra calories to heal itself. . When I found out I might be going on trips that involve bikinis My 1st thought was “I need to cut calories” “I have to start being strict” 🤦🏽‍♀️ all the old thoughts I used to think came back. I took a second to think about it and realized that no, I want to make this a maintainable weight loss when my body is healed . By starting at maintenance calories and still treating myself when I’m craving it. Cutting out flexibility will never be sustainable and I’ve made sure not to ever “diet” for a certain event and make it my lifestyle . My old “lifestyle” was only making food at home and treating my self only on Sunday.... LOL. I’ve learned that it wasn’t a maintainable lifestyle and now I’m ready & have to tools to make this long term and I know I will find the balance where I love and feel comfortable in my body and still can go out enjoy myself and be flexible 🙌🏻
This time last year I had major FOMO 🙇‍♀️ as I watched my new team celebrate and party together at our company’s biggest 🎉 yearly event. . Not this year! ✨ Later this week I’m heading to Indy for three days of growth, parties, and passion. 💃 I finally get to fangirl over the friends I’ve made from across the country, and sweat with the trainers I’ve followed for YEARS.🤸‍♀️ . Do you go camping? . It’s only taken 12 years, but I finally went camping with my husband + 3 kids! I grew up camping and I love it. Who wouldn’t when you’re within walking distance to Hawaiian beaches. . Here are my Camping Essentials: . ⛺️Ear plugs- because I don’t want to hear animal noises (my husband included) . ⛺️Baby Wipes- because we aren’t showering and we are sleeping in close quarters in a tent . ⛺️Dry shampoo- because my hair gets oily quick . ⛺️Face Cloths- because facials aren’t really a practical routine whilst camping . ⛺️Fizz sticks- because caffeine and water gets boring . ⛺️Hydration- because water is great but when it’s 90 degrees, you need electrolytes and we don’t do artificial flavors, sweeteners, or dyes (i.e. Gatorade or Powerade) . ⛺️Homemade bug spray- because I stay away from any products with ingredients that raise a concern about neurological damage (read: DEET) and I would like to avoid an autoimmune disease from ticks or mosquitos . One of the biggest life lessons I’ve had is how to take someone’s ALWAYS negative feedback and turn it into a positive or just have it be neutral. If you can walk away from such a person, you definitely should. But if you can’t, then here’s what has helped me. Every time I get a negative feedback, instead of taking it personally, I think about the main goal and motive of the activity or project and change my focus to the end goal, not to the destructive words. This has helped me neutralize these comments, while still working on something. It might seem super easy but as women we tend to take these comments personally and to detach myself has been so powerful. Or you could just go crush some legs 😝 #mentalgains #mondaymotivation
