Today marks the 4th instalment of my #wellnesstips
and I decided to create a little infographic for y'all. ⠀
💚 Eating a balanced and varied meal is really important for optimal nutrition and health and these proportions are a great basic guideline to follow.⠀
1/2 your plate : Vegetables and Fruits⠀
🌿 Aim to have a few different types of veggies on your plate, from bright colours to leafy greens to get the biggest nutrient punch!⠀
1/4 your plate : Complex Carbs⠀
🍠 Think whole wheat grains like rice and quinoa... sweet potatoes... beans... pulses and more vegetables. These will sustain you for longer and are packed with nutrients.⠀
1/4 your plate : Protein⠀
🥜 As I eat a predominantly vegan diet, I would pack this full of plant based protein like beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, nuts and seeds.⠀
Add Healthy Fats⠀
🥑 People are often scared of fats, but they are a vital part of your diet and certain fat soluble vitamins cannot be absorbed without them. Add avocado, 1tbsp olive oil, nuts or seeds.⠀
💦 Aim to drink at least 2 litres of water throughout the day.⠀
You could also try swapping the proportions of the carbs and the fats... Experiment with foods and work out which you prefer. Everyone is different, and if you would like a personalised meal plan then always speak with a qualified nutritionist of your GP. ⠀

I hurt my back this weekend and have been struggling to walk around easily for the past few days which has given me such a huge appreciation of what I can do when I'm healthy and just what I can achieve if I put my mind to it 🤔
Resting my back has given me time to watch some youtube videos by @vegainstrength @simnettnutrition @jonvenus
which have helped me along with meal prep and making some simple workouts I can do around my injury 💪🏽🌱

Here’s a delish salad I made for dinner thats packed with nutrients, is actually filling and tastes delicious. The key to healthy salads is VOLUME.
How to build a salad that’s actually good 101:
1️⃣ A good base of greens: not iceberg lettuce (unless thats what you like) good options are spring mix, kale, spinach
2️⃣A lean protein source: Chicken, fish, lean beef, tofu, etc
3️⃣Toppings: Mixed veggies, lentils, avocado, fruit slices, nuts
4️⃣Yum dressing or sauce: Guacamole, hummus, olive oil, etc
Tuesday dinner - chicken stuffed with Philadelphia light, wrapped in bacon with a sprinkling of light cheddar on top - 9SP served with lots of 0SP veg!

And it was worth the hanger as I stared longingly through the glass of the toaster oven waiting for those sweet potato chunks to soften 🤤 This hash paired nicely with a fancy shmancy microwave-poached egg.
