Marshall is not someone who easily gives up. I know he understood that revival is not exactly what his “fans” expected from him. He is an underground rapper. He was an underdog and he changed the game. For a long time Marshall was not challenged. He had respect. Marshall told quite many times that it is the fire to prove people wrong that gave him all his success, and he is in the game not for the money but for the respect. He proved everyone his capability. Many new rappers came but even they claimed him as the ultimate king. He didnt have a competition, a threat. Marshall had nothing to prove anymore. He wasnt angry or salty about anything cause he had everything he ever wanted, which reflected in his raps, thus changing his style.
But now with the rise of soundcloud/mumble rappers and the new gen who didnt grow up listening to his music, questioning his legacy, Marshall again has something to prove. Lets admit, revival’s execution was lousy. There were some great songs led down by poor production and ofcourse the shitty marketing. Not only the album flopped but Eminem’s status as Rap God is being questioned now. New gen kids are calling him “trash” (getting sick of that word). Now Marshall is being challenged. He has something to prove. I bet he feels like an underdog, aggressive and hungry for respect, like how he felt in his initial days. Ofcourse for me and other fans like me he always be invincible. But for every one who bashed him, what you heard in Chloraseptic is just a glimpse of the storm that is about to come. Revival was the calm before the storm. I can already feel something big is about to come. You snapped the wrong rapper. He is gonna show you who taught your favourite rappers to rap. And I hope to see you talk shit against him once this comes out cause boyyyyy what is about to come is gonna fuck you up.
