We have successfully managed to keep this tiny human alive for a whole month! @Charlie.elise
is now 7lb 12oz (ish) and 20 (ish) inches long. She excels at crying, pooping, throwing her hands up in the air, and being hangry (gets that one from mom). She also never met a swaddle she can’t escape from. In conclusion, she’s a baby.💕

Also, I’m starting to fill up my calendar in October and November. If you’d like to book a family session this year, DM so we can figure out a date together ☺️ I can’t believe my schedule is almost full for the year. Thank you thank you guys for being the best!!
Let’s do another Q&A post! I love these ☺️ ask me anything - photography, editing, traveling, etc. and I’ll answer below and if needed, create a blog post about it ☺️
Meet Mike, Emily and Madison. Mike is a top chef (check out @perch_rva
opening soon!), Madison is a pharmacist who makes chronic disease patients lives easier, and Emily is a Richmond native raising money for CF in memory of a high school friend. These are 3 of the #RichmondsFinest
honorees we are celebrating tonight for their efforts- over $70,000 raised so far for #cysticfibrosis
research!! // Join us this tonight, Thursday, June 21, at the #HistoricTredegar
for the 2018 Brewers Ball! Each year, 20 young professionals are selected and pledge to raise $3000 each for the @cysticfibrosis.
I’ve gotten to meet the honorees this year and take headshots for them as a thank you for all they are doing for the CF community. I’ve loved getting to meet this group and take their picture! @cff_virginia @brewersballrva @mike_ledesma
It has been a true honor photographing this family throughout many of the most monumental events in their life together—their story is beautiful. I was able to capture them one last time before they move to another state. It is so bittersweet. Photography has given me so many opportunities to meet incredible people and witness some of the most inspiring moments in life. I am so grateful. Love you, Murdock Family! 💛
When planning your engagement session, I always suggest doing something that you love to do as a couple to make it more catered to who you are. Amy and Dave are adventurous, sweet, and energetic, so our hike at the Short Hills last night was perfect for them. We are so lucky to live in the Niagara Region with such gorgeous backdrops. Here are a few highlights from last night!
There is so much behind this image. Rob came to me about six weeks before this moment and asked if I could document his proposal to Kaylor. We met a few weeks before to walk around the gardens and to find a quiet beautiful spot with flowers, Kaylor LOVES flowers! We both went back two more times after that to walk the rout they would take to get to our spot and to figure out what time of evening had the best light. Six weeks in the making for this moment. And of course she said YES! 😍
I told you I couldn’t stop sharing these photos of Brook 🙈
Slow & quiet mornings are my meditation. ✨ #film
Be still and listen.
Something I am learning to do, quiet my mind, my thoughts, my space around me (not always easy with two littles) to just be still before the beginning of my day✨
Today we have some words of advice from @mallorydawnphoto
on trusting yourself when shooting film: “I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to dive into the world of film photography. When I first started shooting film, there were many uncertainties -- mainly the fact that I couldn’t get instant gratification and assurance that I got “the shot.” Slowly but surely, I had to learn to trust myself and follow my instincts. Practice is what really eased my mind and helped me navigate this new world of film; I would take my #Contax
around and test out different lighting situations to really get to know how to use the camera to the best of my ability.
This image is probably one of my favorites to date because of the situation and how I really had to trust myself. It was taken at the #PismoBeach #SandDunes
in Southern California during an engagement session right before sunset. It was extremely windy so the sand was blowing in my face, which made it pretty difficult to even use my camera. I wanted to capture my couple from a further distance, so I had them walk ahead of me while I stayed back on one of the taller hills to create that epic perspective. I made sure to take a few images in this sequence to feel more secure with getting the image I wanted. When I finally received my scans, I was so happy with the results. It is times like that where I really gain confidence in my ability to shoot film. There will always be times of uncertainty, but that is life. Practice being able to trust yourself will really make all the difference!”

Confidence sometimes requires purposeful preparation and practice.
Hope everyone is feeling well today. Slowly finishing of some wonderful new stories I'll be sharing soon. But the days are packed and the computers are slow... spending my days inside...

Our memories are happily stuck in summer ☀️ can we have that back? Please? ✨
Sunset-drenched, damn good horse, laid-back cowboy kind of night.
Wherever you go I go, wherever you stay I’ll stay...
Let’s have a moment to talk about life. You know, sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. Some marriages simply weren’t meant to last or stand the test of time. Why am I saying this you might ask. Well, my first marriage wasn’t meant to last. I know this because I know my heart and I know that right now my heart is the happiest it’s ever been. I was young when I married and so was my first husband, my sons father. Here we are thirteen years later and we’re both remarried, truly happy and living completely separate lives and still deeply care for each other. Corbin is the tie that binds us together for life and I’m thankful for heartache and struggle. I’m thankful for disappointment. I’m thankful that I had to be a single mom for so many years, y’all this made me a better woman. Cassie is also a better woman, she married her best friend Weston over the weekend and two did not become one, three became one. One family, one happy family is what you are seeing here. Like me, Cassie wondered if she’d ever find someone to love her and love her child. Let’s just say she no longer has to think about being alone. She doesn’t have to go at it alone in this big crazy and often scary world. I believe there isn’t one person meant for one person. I believe one person can love many people in different ways. There are people all over this world whom I’m sure I could love, but I’m glad my heart found David and I’m surely glad the feeling was mutual. We chose to love each other, it didn’t just happen. I happily chose to commit myself to David, like Cassie chose to commit herself to Weston and Weston happily chose to commit himself to Cassie and Ava. Life isn’t perfect y’all and we have a choice to make. I say Cassie and Weston along with Ava are living their best life right now at this very moment and I also believe it only gets better from here on out...

Those just-married-I-have-a-whole-bottle-of-prosecco feels 🍾
I had a blast with Maddy and Kale yesterday. Saw some cool trees, made a river crossing and ate brilliant burgers. Fun times all round.

I just had an amazing session with this beautiful mama. She is glowing!
I never realized how much I enjoyed photography until I had my son and fell in love with documenting his days. From the little things to the big things, it’s been so nice to look back at everything we’ve done as a new little fam. Thanks @yellowparasol
for letting me chase you and your sweet person around for an afternoon. ❤️
I lost my way all the way to you.⠀
T-minus 10 more days until I’m back in Northern California for @just_jen89
and Kyle’s wedding!
I may not know your name yet, but wherever you are my love, I hope this finds you well. I hope you're feeling loved, respected, supported, valued, encouraged, inspired, and cherished. And if you aren't, just know that you will be. By me. You may not know me yet. I may still be just a face in the crowd. And to me, you may still be a stranger. But I hope that somehow you feel the certainty of my presence in this world. Because I feel yours. I know the searching and seeking has exhausted you and I know you've been left wondering. But stay patient with me because not now doesn't mean never. It only means that we aren't ready for each other yet. We're still figuring out who we are outside of one another. Meanwhile, I hope you’re not staying idle but rather feeling at liberty to do whatever you need to do before me. Like me, I hope you’re out there dating all the wrong people (and maybe some right ones) and making mistakes and learning about yourself along the way. I hope you're finding what sets your soul on fire and filling yourself with experiences I can't wait to hear about. Just think of the stories we'll have to share. I can’t wait to know you. I can’t wait to finally put a name and a face to the man I’ve been thinking about my whole life. Know that I won’t be settling for anyone else and I'm not afraid of the goodbyes I’ll have to say until then. And when that day comes, I know that our first hello will really be more of a welcome home. But for now, my love, I hope these thoughts somehow make their way to you. And I hope they find you well. - TPeil
