Years ago I was playing around in my studio and my good friend Chase Lock jumped in front of my backdrop and I snapped one photo of him. A while later I found that photo and really liked it, but the problem was that I caught him when he blinked. So I took the photo and put a strip of paint over his eyes in Photoshop. The photo looked really cool after that and I had this idea to do a series of portraits with the same concept. The problem was I got distracted and never set out to complete it. It’s been a few years since then and this idea that has been manifesting finally came back to me here in Bali. So I set out to finally do it. The first person I asked to take a photo of and help me begin to do mock ups of the final images was @eddiemcdonald_.
This is the concept I have for the final versions, but the real print will be done with actual paint. It’s crazy how taking a photo that was a failure at the time inspired this concept. The creative process is a wild ride and sometimes the best ideas come to me through my failures in the past. Without failing we will never grow. Now I am working hard on bringing this concept to life and this initial mock up is just the beginning of what I believe will be a great series of portraits using photo and paint. Very excited to see where this goes! #sonya6000 #sonyalpha #art #artwork #resourcemag #streetdreamsmag #canggu #bali #indonesia #bgsbali #createandcapture #create #passionpassport #adorama #customslr #freeyourcamera #portrait #makeportraits
