Sometimes people forget that we, as doctors are also human. We hurt, we get sick, we cry we laugh, cut us we bleed. Sometimes I feel trapped in the cycle of seeing, what feels like, a million patients a day. And giving each one my fullest attention and empathy. We try our best. Having to, at times put on a brave face, when things are happening in our lives too. I treat your child, while mine is sick at home with whoever is available to stay with him. Because if I don't pitch for work. Who will see to your child. Some days I come home and wish that my job didn't include having to hear a 10yr old telling me she's getting bullied at school, a granny not coming to fetch her pills because her drug addicted grandson will steal her possessions if she had to leave, a father unhappy with your service because you didn't agree with his Google diagnosis... Unfortunately the list goes on.
