If you're dieting on 2000 calories, that would be 200-400 calories to eat whatever the heck you want. This will prevent you from bingeing on the weekends because you tried to be perfect the entire week. They watched ‘What The Health’ and believed every word.⠀ .⠀ 2. They’re an idiot.⠀ .⠀ The government protein RDA of 0.8g/kg often gets banded around by these people at the same time…⠀ .⠀ So when you see people consuming 2-3 times this amount, you question if high protein diets are ‘healthy’ and ’safe’.⠀ .⠀ But here’s the kicker…⠀ .⠀ The RDA is set to the MINIMUM amount needed for you to avoid disease and not what is optimal for health…⠀ .⠀ So depending on your lifestyle and the activities / sports you participate in, you’ll need to up protein intake to maximise your training.⠀ .⠀ If you’re endurance training, aim for 1.2-1.7g/kg (top end of the range is probably better).⠀ .⠀ If you’re resistance training then up that to around 1.8-2.7g/kg. There isn't. That doesn't mean that you can't lose fat fast, but in the end you still have to do what works. And what works is and always will be:⠀ ➖⠀ 1⃣ Staying in a caloric deficit: if you've been reading any of my posts, you know that you have to eat less calories than your body burns (but not too many less) to burn fat without frying muscle. A good starting point for most people is [10-12x your bw in lbs] calories per day. Track your calories and know HOW MUCH you eat.⠀ ➖⠀ 2⃣ Eat high protein: 0.8-1 gram per lb of bw is a good rule of thumb. Get it from all sources (animals, eggs, dairy, plants...). Don't forget your carbs and fats!⠀ ➖⠀ 3⃣ Lift weights 2-4x/week: this is a MUST. This will make or break your efforts, as it will mean the difference between losing fat and just losing weight. If you're just getting smaller (losing both fat & muscle), you're not going to achieve the lean and defined look you're looking for.⠀ ➖⠀ 4⃣ Sleep 7h/night: your body produces essential fat loss hormones while you sleep (HGH). Not every meal can be like this, but your perfect fat loss meal should include . ☑ A good serving of a protein source (the equivalent of 30 grams of protein or more) . ☑ Veggies: 1-3 cups of diced/choppes/sliced veggies of your choice . ☑ Carbs: these foods are higher in calories than veggies or fruits, so portion should me more controled depending on your body weight. (*): veggies and fruits are also carbs, but here by carbs I mean starches and legumes . ☑ A healthy fat: these are extremely high in calories but necessary in a balanced diet. Shoot for one thumb of healthy fats in each of your meals. That's around 100 calories for most sources . ☑ A piece of fruit of your choice, and you can leave those for snacking between meals. You have to eat in a calorie deficit to lose weight ⚖️⬇️, and what better way to ensure you're doing that than by actually tracking your food intake⁉️ -
One problem with tracking, though, is it can be overwhelming... especially if you're just getting started. -
What's more, tracking all three macronutrients can end up getting just as obsessive as every other diet 😰 For example, when I was first tracking macros, I remember ending my days with some weird ass combination of foods just to hit my prescribed numbers... -
There was one night where I literally sat in my bed at 11pm half asleep eating tuna and rice cakes because I had protein and carb macros left to hit, but had already went over my fat goal for the day. -
Nowadays, I take much more flexible approach, and I've seen it work wonders ✅ -
The first step is to go away with a carb and fat goal and just focus on calories and protein. As long as you stay above 20% of total calories for each macronutrient, you're solid 💪 -
Next, I recommend setting flexible targets & ranges. I like to set a 150-200 calorie range and a protein minimum target 🎯 Remember, losing weight is NOT about being perfect. It's about being consistent 🔄 -
If the stress of tracking all three macros to the "T" is screwing with your consistency, use this strategy to simplify things and I guarantee you'll have an easier time sticking to your weight loss plan 💪 -

I cannot *believe* the changes my body has gone though since starting @burnbootcamp 😭 I have hamstrings, I have stronger calves, I have a smaller waist, my arms and back have changed so much. My mental state has changed volumes! I couldn’t be more grateful that Burn was brought into my life and helped push me out of my normal comfort zone to do more and be more and prove to myself I’m stronger than I knew, try new things, and always changes up the workout. My macros. And they are just that; mine. - This is MY #caloriedeficit and my optimal protein and my preference for carbs and fats. It doesn’t mean YOU will have success with it. - But this gives you an idea of the types of food I choose. Most days it’s 80% nutrient dense foods and 20% “fun” foods. This is more like 90% / 10%. - Including foods I find enjoyable that don’t necessarily have any benefits other than sheer joy (😺), makes dieting more .. well enjoyable. It also makes adherence more likely! - 1826 kcal (two coffees with 100 mls light milk and stevia and 2-3L water 💦 not pictured photos). 160P | 190 C | 47 F . - Fun fact: I started on 2900 kcal when I first began dieting 11 months ago 😱.
