NYC VIBE was on site on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, when Literacy Partners hosted its annual Evening of Readings & Gala to raise critical funds to further its mission to end illiteracy, one adult at a time. The evening included readings from actress Sarah Paulson, who read from Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Goldfinch.
The evening also included a tribute to founder Liz Smith, which was introduced by the gossip columnist’s lifelong friend, actress Holland Taylor.
NYC VIBE picked up a book to help end adult illiteracy at the Literacy Partner's 32nd annual Evening of Readings & Gala in lower Manhattan. Literacy Partners has helped more than 25,000 New York City adults and their families with education to learn to read and write, as a part of its goal to go "Further Together". This years gala paid tribute to legendary gossip columnist Liz Smith, who passed away this past November and was an instrumental figure in the organization's huge success.
