Way better than my first crappy deadlift with reset. Not gonna even post that shit. Only my coach can see it 😂 @allencress_ifbbpro Amidst all the craziness happening I was able to make sure that I am in the right zone when in the gym. Couple things I do which probably most gym goers does. 1. Earphone. Put on your own music. 2. Dynamic stretching before anything else. This will give signal to your muscles that you are about to do some lifting. 3. Take your time. Control your breathing pattern. 4. Always make sure your intended muscle to work on is actually working by first doing a couple of lighter set. I put emphasis more on correcting my form and make sure I have good execution before progressing to a more challenging weight. There is always room for better and there is always room for more challenge.

Clip from yesterday's back workout with @mrskpostel , supported bent over dumbbell rows. ⤵ Most of the time I will have people do these standing with on arm on the dumbbell rack or the top of an incline bench. However, if you are trying to take the lower back our of the movement and really focus on lat recruitment, opt for this version. One knee on the bench, deep stretch at the bottom of the movement, pull your hand and the dumbbell back towards the top of your hip, not your chest. Slow and controlled repetitions. This might not be a world class back but I do take alot of pride in the sheer consistency, specific training structure and time ive spent trying to bring it up to balance. Is it there yet? Debatable but if it's not, it's close.... ______ Truth is that while basic equipment would get results across the board, I can unequivocally say that my last 1.5 years training in @thegymmonasterevin has directly impacted just how much progression I've made. Last Thursdays session was my constant reminder of just how ridiculous workouts can be when you have the very best of equipment and shit tonne of it. ______ I still to this day believe 90% of the regulars there truly have no concept of just how lucky they are to call it home. But even that day, I walked in, low and dejected after last weekend and left feeling like a new man. ______ This is no hard sell or pitch as there's zero need. It's simply the truth. This place is just fucking magic while other spots may have their own charms (which I've personally experienced and have love for), nothing comes close to here. Nothing! And with that in mind and for 1001st time, thank you G and J for all the support and kindness and what is effectively heaven in gym form. So If you haven't visited yet, then why the fuck not?!👊💪 ______ One other thing boys and girls. Don’t neglect you’re unilateral (single arm/leg) movements unless you want an unbalanced physique! - Most clients I’ve trained whether athletes or not have some kind of imbalance between the left side of there body and the right! - It could be a slight difference in arm or leg size or lack of strength in one side. Maybe from a injury, surgery or just naturally one is weaker. - Whatever the case incorporating those single sided exercises is definitely a way to counteract this from happening and even things out! - This Smith Machine Single Arm Row is awesome for really isolating the back each side at a time. - I really like this variation because it forces me to pull lower into my waist keeping that elbow tucked in and hitting the lower lats more. LONG POST: I figured I would give you guys an update/explanation for my limited activity on here, as far as posting is concerned, despite not having to worry about school right now. Last summer I found myself focusing more on the number on the scale that represented my “success” in coming down from my heaviest weight years before, and finding the best angles and poses to try and show that I was improving my size despite the weight loss. I was way more concerned with keeping up the regiment I had set for myself as far as posting was concerned, and honestly that’s embarrassing to me looking back. I originally made an Instagram account for me to be able to track my own progress, using pictures to gauge my growth moving forward, but I became distracted with likes, followers, and how successful everyone else thought I was. In reality I wasn’t being honest with myself about the “gains” I was making, and but was convincing myself that the pictures I was taking in these very specific poses showed the “real” progress I’d been making. I still have a long way to go with my physique when it comes to proper dieting and workout routines, and it’s time I admit that to myself and actively try to improve upon them again. I’ll still try and post at least once a week for the sake of keeping up to date for myself, and also letting those of you who are genuinely invested know as well, but I’m going to try to take this summer and really focus on making sure that the physique I am presenting is more than just an angle or great lighting. I’d highly recommend taking a break from regularly posting now and then for those of you with a fitness oriented account especially, because you may find that you’ve managed to convince yourself that you’ve made more progress than you really have too, and the quicker you realize that then the less time you will be ultimately wasting in the end.
